honestly i could see perron on top line with something like this:

Schwartz Schenn Perron
Fabbri( hopefully) O'reily Tarasenko
Steen Bozak Kyrou
Jaskin Barbashev Soshnikov

Thorburn
Sanford?

I dont see where Thomas fits this year so I'm just assuming they want another full year of development unless they would play bozak on the 4th or something

- bluenote31

Thomas on the wing and Kyrou in SA is what will happen

Thomas is NHL ready per DA but he will have to earn it

Conference call with Tage Thompson...He says he's happy to get an NHL chance and not be "pigeon-holed" like he was in St. Louis, a veteran team that couldn't tolerate mistakes.

I know. It's not perfect but a right handed shot will compliment that line well unless they are just gonna stack and put tarasenko up there.

He looked lost at times last year it was in fair of the blues to expect him to produce he should have been in San Antonio all last year

DA did this to himself though with his roster management last year

According to Armstrong Thomas will be given the opportunity to earn the center position and would shift ROR to the wing.

I wonder if you don't just shift Schenn back to the wing? Schenn had some issues in his own zone and on face offs. That said he aquited himself quite well in the roll. I don't know, does Thomas just do a year in San Antonio and Kyrou earn a winger spot? Because if you ask me Kyrou is ahead of Thomas in his development by just being a winger. I think it takes more time to develop as a center. I also believe both are ready for the NHL.

Hopefully there isn't a NMC to Bozak's contract because that could lead to him being moved at some point. But with this amount of legitimate center depth I believe we are a strong contender. Depth team wide is great.

Yes I have issues with Allen but I think whoever wrote that he did well when the Blues scored was correct. He is decent, maybe slightly above average with some potential to figure it out there. If he does great on the team; hell if he led them to the Cup and was phenomenal I would move him next off season at the draft. I like the other two young netminders better. A great goaltender can win you a series or two in the play offs, but a great forward core looks like it wins Championships now a days. The Blues have a lot better defensive corps than either the Penguins or Capitals had. Holtby is a top flight goaltender but he wasn't always playing his best this season. Murray has been good for a series or two but otherwise has been just above average. So it really boiled down to overloading the forward groups for the past three Champions.

Pigeon-holed? The dude got pigeon-holed into an NHL roster that he probably wasn't physically ready for. You'd think he would be at least a little grateful.

I still don't like seeing him go, I think he has a good combination of size and skill but at the same time he didn't really progress the way you would have hoped last year. All in all, a very good deal for the Blues though. I would have never thought that Buffalo would go for a deal that essentially sets them back another two or three years.

This team was looking pretty ho-hum after the free agent signings. Now you get rid of a couple of scrubs and add a top flight center who is a wizard in the face off circle and all the sudden you've got a completely different team. If Fabbri can stay healthy and one or two of the youngsters steps up, it's gonna be a fun year.

Eddy, Jaskin, and Sundqvist filed for arbitration. They cannot be offered an offer sheet.

Looks like we're getting Pat Maroon, one year 1.7 mil.

What the hell happened to Millen? There's been plenty of red meat to discuss the last few weeks. Guess we'll have to wait till the season opener's game day recap.

Yeah that's what I heard.

Personally I see him as a 1-2 year fit. Given his age, the guys coming up, and the players we will eventually need to resign (petro, schenn, etc) I just don't see the blues making a 3-4 million a year commitment to him for 3-4 years.

I like this deal a lot. No matter how you play him, as the completion of your third like with Bozak and Perron, or move him up to provide some physical presence on one of your other lines, some one else slides down and you have three good lines.

Aside from the historically awful power play and inconsistent goal tending, the lack of scoring of any kind from a third line was a killer for the Blues.

DA has done a good job of filling out the forward positions this off season. Especially if they're able to get Robbi Fabbri back.

Bringing in Maroon would be great. A big body that can set up in front on the PP. He would be an instant hometown favorite.

I hope they can get it done. I would imagine his agent is pushing him for more as 1 year 1.7 is going to be much less than he can get elsewhere.

Who leaves if he signs? Obviously the leading candidates are jaskin and Sundqvist

I wouldn't.

He's got a great heart and can do a lot of the little things you need to win in the post season. He's a good leader. On a deep team he doesn't need to do too much.

After this season you get cap relief from the defensive side and hopefully you have a few kids ready on the left side by then.

If you asked me I would have signed Duclair and Yakupov for little money. Surely one of the two can break out and if you shelter Yakupov the stats say he tilts the ice the right way so in a third or fourth line situation that helps sustain pressure. Pus the only draw backs to the moves DA made are that none of them have improved team speed. I think all the players while not burners can play the game quickly which can cause the team to look fast.

With this signing the blues have approximately $3.525 million to sign Eddie and Schmaltz

Someone has to move

Now where does Thomas fit? Does he go to Hamilton again and waste a year

I think a top 9 Has to move so that is Steen or Fabbri IMO
