Here are my predictions, and yeah, some of them are out there but I'll explain my reasoning.
FIRST ROUND
WESTERN CONFERENCE
NSH vs COL:
Nashville should win this in 5, pretty standard, Colorado's had a great run but don't have enough playoff experience in their lineup or firepower beyond the McKinnon line to handle Nashville's deep lineup and who've been there before.
VGK vs LA:
Vegas in 7, it's pretty much a pick'em series, I see it going the distance and going to OT (possibly 2 or even 3OT) in several of the games. LA has the experience, but Vegas just seems to be that team that with home ice will pull it out (plus you KNOW Bettman would love to see Vegas go at least to the WCF to show that putting teams in non-standard hockey markets work).
ANA vs SJ:
ANA in 7. It's another pick'em series, although a lot less close than Vegas/LA, both teams are limping into the playoffs and this is pretty much Anaheim's last real shot at having a real shot at a Stanley Cup. I see Anaheim wanting to prove that their window isn't closed and managing to pull it out.
WPG vs MIN:
Here is one of my shock prediction, Minny in 6, and I know it seems really out there but here's my reasons. Winnipeg is going into the post-season with a lot of injuries, and if it weren't for the fact that they are, I'd pick Winnipeg 9 times out of 10 to win and win handily. Minny plays Winnipeg hard and if Dubnyk gets hot and Winnipeg doesn't rise to the occasion then this might be the first upset of the playoffs.
EASTERN CONFERENCE
TLB vs NJD:
Tampa in 6, New Jersey is game here, but Tampa is just too good and is just too much for a New Jersey team that's one year removed from being really really bad.
BOS vs TOR:
Again, another pick'em series, this one I have no idea and it's going the distance. I lean towards Boston with the experience, but Toronto has the speed and firepower so who knows. Boston in 7? Maybe?
WAS vs CLB:
Washington should take this in 6, mostly because I hate Torts and I don't want Torts to do well. That said, Washington rides OV as far as they can.
PIT vs PHI:
My second shocking prediction, Philly in 5, don't get me wrong I love Crosby but at this point how much left do the Penguins have in the gas tank? I just don't see how after back-to-back Cups and a long run the year before that, that they manage to make it out of the first round.
SECOND ROUND
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
NAS vs MIN
This will be a nasty series, but Nashville will be rested and ready and again are as deep as anyone (save for Tampa) in all areas so Nashville in 6.
VGK vs ANA
Another nasty series that will go the distance, Vegas continues it's run and manages to make it to the WCF.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
TLB vs BOS
Closer than you might think, Boston had a shot to take over the #1 seed in the East in the last week of the season but lost, and home ice matters when you get past the first round. Tampa in 6.
WAS vs PHI
Washington gets through because of OV and makes it past the second round for the first time in his career. Washington in 6
CONFERENCE FINALS
WESTERN CONFERENCE FINAL:
NAS vs VGK:
Vegas's run ends here as Nashville is just too good and has the home ice advantage to push them to the Finals for the second year in a row. Nashville in 6
EASTERN CONFERENCE FINAL:
TLB vs WAS:
The literally closest series this playoffs with Washington barely making it to the Finals. Washington in 7
STANLEY CUP FINAL:
NAS vs WAS
OV finally gets to the SCF and gets to take the spotlight and shine but Nashville is far too deep, has too much unfinished business from last year and therefore in 6 games, Nashville wins it's first cup in franchise history in 6 games. Your Conn Smythe winner is Roman Josi and Carrie Underwood sings a country version of Queen's "We Are The Champions" on ice with her husband Mike Fisher who retires once more a champion and starts his new career as a duet with his wife. |

Interesting picks I agree NAS wins the cup and Vegas beats LA. But I think Minny gets smashed. They have their own injuries to deal with and WPG is a superior team. |

Funny that you guys are talking about Schneider.
I asked Kevin Weekes about him on Monday while we were putting together a playoff preview.
Those quotes are in the blog, as well as the updates on Boeser's wrist and Francesco Aquilini's Twitter.
