Makita in shambles - Nucker101
I actually like him, he has a strong work ethic, never gives up on a play, can skate it out of danger. He is still developing being only year 2 of pro. |

Bo is learning from the twins, he is going to the worlds and didn't want to confirm and take away from the sedins last games |

Leipsic did nothing as a 4th liner in Vegas. Comes here gets an extra 5 minutes a game. Doubles his production rate. You want to put him back down as a 4th liner again? - manvanfan
Thats a 2019-20 lineup with the roster supplied to me. I expect maybe Sven traded so Leipsic has to push for that. I do like him & further up at that.
Too many variables & time to decide. |

19-20 is two years away. I won't even make trades or add in free agents for next season.
I was just wondering how he got back to the 4th line. I don't even mind if he is on the 3rd line next year. Could be the Sikura type for Gaudette.
I only want Goldy, Baertschi, Leipsic, Pettersson as soft guys.
Horvat, Gaudette, Sutter, Eriksson as the two way players.
Virtanen, Gaunce, Archibald as players with grit. Missing one player from here.
I'm not sure where Gagner fits in. He attempts to play a two way game but isn't very good. He has no problem going into the corners to battle so not soft. Clearly he isn't/ doesn't have that grit to him. Since he has a contract slot him in. There ya go. |

Only can see 1 of Sven Granlund Leipsic on the team in 2019-20. Prospects should be ready & pushed them out for top 9. Need spots open for competition & the 4th line is where some others will get the opportunity.
Edit: we need more C prospects & never enough D as well |

I had a feeling I was missing someone.
That makes the line up so much more difficult. |

Says why 2019-20 is a turning point in many regards. Expectations & a logjam on the wing & D sooner than later. |

2018 is more predictable. What is not is if JB swings trades or signs a UFA(s). I’m ALL for trades for high picks/prospects.
Next season will tell us much as in trending up or more of the same. Its on the kids. Time we see more quality & less quantity. |

Just to clarify Nucker, I had hopes for Stecher but I think the club ruined his development. The guy shouldn’t be playing big minutes, shouldn’t be put in high pressure situations...but if Green brings him down to 12-14 mins a game, gives him the tough love treatment that most want for Hutton, Stecher could be a number 5 style defense man.
As for the World Cup, there isn’t much to chose from at this stage, I cannot see Stecher getting through but what do I know, I thought 50 point players would play another year. |

Personally, I see Stecher having some upside, Hutton has none. But again, if you're running Stecher in your top 4, you've got serious problems in your D-corps. Tanev and Hutton need to go and hope that OJ will be able to slot in after training camp and we can sign a cheap tradeable UFA for one year while we wait for whoever we draft to develop. |

Stecher at least plays intense. Hutton floats thinking he’s good. His chances are running out! |

Trading Tanev sure if a big return👍
Either of Hutton or Stecher don’t fit in.
1 has to go soon IMO
I see adding OJ as being better.
Definitely draft more D high |

Adam Boqvist in his debut for Sweden's national team scores in the first period. He is the 2nd U18 Swede to ever score a goal for their national team, first in 50 years. |

So Is Goldobin going to Lobby for Kovalchuk to come here and bring his buddy Tryamkin with him?
Is that where the money is going?

I am not a fan of take on the bad contract. I think we have a decent amount of prospects . We are already ignoring guys like Lockwood and Palmu . I think keep all our draft picks every year . Keep our cap space and continue on course. |

Wouldn't play bad contract. Just head down to the minors. |

Some nice free agents next year OEL and Karlsson . If you don't have the cap space you can't make a bid |

No to a bad contract also.
Stick to drafting & devoloping for sure 100%
Cap space only for a key UFA that makes any sense eg top D PP QB
Thin down the winger & D position trading. |

Someone probably already mentioned it, but wasn’t Miller drafted the same year as the twins, did he call it quits too?

I disagree with your rationale. I am very high on Lockwood, but his injury history is a concern. I am not nearly as high on Palmu, Gadjovich, and most certainly some of those I do like will not pan out anywhere near their projected ceilings.
For me, part of the failure of the Oiler and Sabre rebuilds are the lack of depth. If a key guy goes down or prospect develop as expected, they have nothing to fill in behind. The good teams have prospect pools with depth, and until we can know for certain that the ones we have will be NHLers, I think its in the best interest of the team to continue acquiring future talent.
VAN has acquired many former top prospects who were expected to play big roles on the teams that drafted them in Sutter, Gudbranson, Pouliot, etc. If we start counting our own chickens before they hatch, IMO the depth of this team will be exposed when we are hoping to be contending |
