yeah, because of the rest of the team was broken, i get that. but if trading him gives you a haul of assets, that kinda helps address those areas. Maybe not immediately but definitely improves your long term out look.

Or you kick the can down the road with prospects and picks that don't pan out. ROR isnt gonna fall apart next year, he just isn't. He'll have 55-60 points because that's what he does. If Mittelstadt is good to go and can be as responsible (on the ice) as O'Reilly, and they miss the playoffs again, sure look into trading him, but with him, this team has top-10 center depth next year

Your logic is tank logic. Dump vets, bring in kids. That's great, but you don't trade productive vets. That leaves a skill and experience hole.

If you trade Scandella, Risto and ROR for futures, you're gonna be worse for a longer amount of time, and the players and picks you get back are nowhere near a sure thing.

Hell, we traded guastad for a first and the best player in that trade is Jussi Saros. Keep good players, get rid of bad players. There is an insane amount of bad money on the team, but it's not there.
