Also, it’s not like we’re saying he needs to be traded.
Him here short term is fine. The question is do you sell high now? Assuming CM is good, do you pay your 3C 7.5 on the cap? - sbroads24
I'd trade him this offseason if the offer was legitimate, but I'm in no rush to trade him, if that makes sense. |

He is, but wouldn’t we want two decent PP units?
In all honesty I don’t even care about his PP production.
We went from #1 to 20th and the production was similar for him
I want him to be an actual threat 5 on 5. - sbroads24
A defense that can move the puck up the ice willl help everyone 5v5
And it would be nice is PP2 was good,
but not at the expense of PP1
Check the stats i just posted on our PP
ROR isn’t coming off the top unit
Not anytime soon |

I don't think he would be because I truly believe he'd move to wing on one of the top 2 lines.
He'd really have to slowdown to be playing 17 minutes a night.
Also, let's say Mittelstadt has the normal learning curve for young players and he's not really good until the end of the 19-20 season. Why not wait until then to trade ROR, unless you think he's hitting a brick wall in terms of production in the next 2 seasons? - kingcong39
I’m not worried about next year. But yes, 2 years out your looking at a guy turning 30, with a big cap hit, potentially playing a lesser role.
The question is, do you make the move now, to be in a better spot in 2020.
This team still has to keep future cap room open for CM, #1 D, Guhle etc.
It’s not something to worry about next year, but it’s worth considering the move now |

He’s also never been a 3rd line center though.
If Mittelstadt is really good, O’Reilly will literally be the 3rd go to man for offense. You don’t think he will be a little less productive then? - sbroads24
I guess that makes sense
How much of an effect will it have though?
Tbd
It is reasonable to assume the icetime Mittelstadt takes away from ROR would be offensively as opposed to defensively |

Based on your sell high criteria, that means getting rid of virtually everyone then, doesn't it?
If they get strong offers for ROR, of course you probably pull the trigger. - kingcong39
If I get the right offers for RoR, Risto, Sam, or Scandella, I take them.
I'm not moving Jack, Guhle, or Casey.
Most of the others have very limited value, but I'd absolutely flip some prospects.
Obviously I'm not expecting a ton of trades, but I'm listening on almost everyone.

Risto and Sam have played well in prior seasons, so is it you're thinking they're overrated, can't play the style Housley wants, or both? |

Maybe O’Reilly can fetch a package similar to Carter when he was moved to Columbus.
Carter was obviously the better player but they netted Voracek and Couturier out of the deal.
O’Reilly is highly regarded it seems |

If it brings us back a “core” player,
then sure
That’s worth considering
If it’s just parts, then no thanks
It does sound like a bunch of teams are interested though
After next season i think we will have like 20mil in Cap space with guys that need resigning getting a decent amount
I don’t think his Cap hit will be an issue unless we are trying to sign Tavares + Doughty, or something like that

I would take a good prospect + a top 15 pick.
Maybe the latter Islanders pick + Ho-Sang.
They lose JT by any chance and that’s a big opportunity IMO |

Some similar concerns on Sam, for sure. He's slow, but not slowing down...so it's a little different concern. He also doesn't produce enough 5v5. He's also invisible for long stretches.
He's not as bad as he played in the first half, but I don't think he's as good as he played in second half. I wouldn't consider locking him up to a long term deal, so I'd listen on him for sure.
If you can improve on Risto, you do it. Easy to say just bring in a #1 + #2 and he'd be a good second pairing guy, but I don't see how you do that without trading him.

Now that, i would do!
But not a B prospect, late 1st, & a 2nd
F that
What’s an equivalent trade?
Something like Skinner & a 1st?
Can we get as high as Montreal’s 1st? |

I’d want Bellows over Ho-Sang
Actually...
i don’t really want Ho-Sang at all
Haven’t watched him much, but he’s only had 1 season where he’s scored some goals and that was in Juniors
I’m thinking bust |

No idea. Probably a good prospect that hasn’t gotten a shot yet + a top 15 pick
Depends how the lottery shakes out too. |

He’s definitely boom or bust but the dude can fly and has great hands.
I’d probably want more but not sure how much more we’d get |

The 8th overall pick and a Reinhart, pre hot streak this year type? Where do I sign?
let's say another Risto(8th overall makes a convenient reference) and a Jake Bebrusk/Guentzel/Oliver Bjorkstrand type? Deal.
Those guys I mentioned are all younger guys that had 40-50 points. Which is what Voracek was. Not necessarily those guys, just guys like that. |

Ho-Sang looks exciting for sure
But his stats kinda blow
34 goals in his draft year- pretty good
But then only 17g & 19g his next 2 years in juniors- that’s terrible
And in his 2 years in the AHL,
10g in 50 games & 8g in 46 games
Just doesn’t seem like he can put the puck in the net

“We had one legitimate offer”
Let’s not over value 90. He was the third best player on one of the worst teams ever assembled in the history of the NHL.
