No one will trade down in the top 7-10 in this draft i think.
They rarely seem to trade down historically.

Found an article from last year arguing trading down from 5th OA last year and taking Suzuki and a 2nd rounder.
https://canucksarmy.com/2...he-case-for-trading-down/

Knowing what we know now about Pettersson, i don't think anyone would do that trade now.

I wouldn't make any deal with our 1st rounder at this draft to trade down.

- dbot

Yeah except JB wasn't going to trade down unless he knew he could get EP. Imagine if JB traded down and got EP and another 2nd.

What? Trade down from 8th to get Dobson or smith? Where exactly do you see them being drafted? Probably both top ten and Dobson may be top 6. Do you want to trade down from 8th to 9th?
- CanuckDon

How did you get 8 first of all? Did you miss 7oa?

I don't see Dobson as top 6. Probably 9th. Ty Smith is probably closer to 15th IMO. Bode Wilde around 12 and Kapuri around 18.

I really would like for Vancouver to take on Ryan Callahan's contract for something.

Perfect length (2 more years)

and Tampa bay has to get rid of him as they have (kucherov, Point, Gourde) all going to be RFA's after next season

Dahlin, Bouchard, Boqvist, Dobson. Anyone of these will change our franchise tremendously anwhere between next season(dahlin) or 2-3 seasons from now(Dobson). I see Boqvist/Bouchard being ready after their draft +1.

What exactly would they give up? They gave up a bunch of prospects to NYR, they don't have a first.

7th or 8 are our most likely picks. Dobson will be gone by 9 and smith will certainly be gone by 15. Very unlikely a RHD w size and top pairing potential lasts until 9.

So add in Jett Woo, Bode Wilde into the top 10 as well? I'm kidding.

Dobson was nowhere start of the year then raised quite high quite fast and then I think people slowed a bit. Depending on who is drafting where, he could be at 9 or 10.

The Picnic is something. Gets out of hand quickly. Here's a picture of Vantel at last years picnic.

And the community protest that followed...

Someone in Canucks Army has Hughes going as high as 2oa. Dobson in Top 6. Figures Hughes will jump to NHL (most ready) as early as late next season. Dobson 2 to 3 years and Bouchard 3 to 4 years away from being ready. Aside from a Top 3 selection, would the Canucks most likely take a d-man you figure?

I'm sure it's already been discussed, but what are people's picks for the West?

without doing any research or looking at head to head records, i'll go with:

Nsh over Col in 6

Winni over Minni in 7

LAk over LV in the upset in 7

SJ over Ana in 5

- dbot

Nsh in 5
Win in 6
LV in 7
Ana in 7 early if Gibson is ready

Dobson won’t last that long. Every team in the top 10 needs a RHD. Would be great if we could grab him at 8th though

Dahlin is NHL ready and I think Bouchard is almost there. He doesn't seem like he can learn much at the CHL level, he dominated the score board, has an adult body already. One season to continue to improve his skating and he is ready. Boqvist will be ready in 1-2 seasons and Dobson just needs to grow into his body a bit more, I see that taking 1-2 seasons. All 4 already have NHL level skillsets.

Last time more then 3 D pick in the top 10. 2012, 4 out of the 8 turned out to be top 4. The other 4, Pouliot.

Nhl level skill sets and changing an nhl franchise are a bit different.

Kids that will become top 4 and all have top 2 potential change a franchise. Dahlin would have an immediate impact and would change the franchise for the next 15 years easy.
