He is now (seemingly). I know what ROR is/isn't. I highly doubt he can ride shotgun with Jack in charge. Maybe they'll do a faceoff challenge to see who gets the "C". Jack will get kicked out, and ROR will win when jack's super winger girgensons comes in for the draw.

I could almost guarantee that if pommer wasn't on the team, Gionta would've been back...probably not as a captain, but as a viable, veteran third-line winger who could still produce

There is a massive difference here. ROR and his "Leadership" is severly overrated.

One would think that is ROR had such great Leadership, he would have shown the guys (Jack, Skunk) the right way to go about it, no?

He brought in Pommer/Scandella. Pommer seemed to be all over Mittelstadt during his callup and Scandella was said to have really settled some of the younger defenders (Guhle/Nelson/Antipin) when they first arrived.

pommer was the key to bringing in Scandella...a rebuilding team isn't going to have two aged vets on the team playing a bottom-six role and taking up (probably) well over $8m in salary...

Other than what I suggested, maybe personal questions, especially to someone disillusioned like ROR.. do you want to be here, do you want to lead this team so on and so forth. I'd bet my house his locker cleanout day quotes will be a big discussion.
