Still a part of me thinks Botts likes him, or really likes the 1-2-3 punch down the middle.
Friedman's 31 thoughts column today mentioned asking in season if ROR was available and said unlikely. it's possible that's changed but wouldn't shock me if no major changes were made. |

I think it's a given that his trade value is less than what GMTM gave up for him. I have a feeling that some people here will disagree. I'll be entertained if anyone tries to make that argument. |

I think he's worth more than Kane was. An actual 1st, a little better prospect maybe??? How far off am I? |

Part of it has to boil down to Asplund. If you think he's close to ready to be your 3C, then it's a much easier deal to make. If he likes Malone as much as some say, he might have his long-term centers.

He's worth more than Kane, no question. He's a hockey trade though, not a rental. He doesn't go simply for picks + prospects, it's a bigger deal and there's other NHL players involved.

Good rant by Howard on GR ...about 7:45 am..end of hour 2 in On Demand when posted.
O’Reilly is done here...he did a masterful job of punching his ticket out. JBotts alluded to discussions that took place at the TDL that may form the basis of trades this offseason...Cryan Ryan just sealed it. Bye Bye...gotta be better on the next team...I would banish him to like Chicago to further screw up their Cap situation...I would have said Phoenix, but they seem to have straightened out their game in the last half.
Chad is done as well, no loss there.
Same for Lehner, done.
Moulson stays in the A
Pommer should follow him, but JBotts will save him for 3rd/4th line duties in his last year.
Larssons sealed his deal to play in the A, no one, not one team will trade a broken stick for him.
Girgs sees 4th line duties unless JBotts throws him in a deal somehow.
Gorges is gone
Bogo is a buyout candidate if he can prove his health in time.
Okposo will rededicate himself to the game and come back ready, good on him...but next hit and he is a LTIR contract
Polouit is a goner, bye bye
Wilson is here on 4th line
Nolan is gone..can’t wait to hear his comments when jettisoned
McCabe gets next year to re-establish himself..could be a TDL candidate
Scandella is fine enough
That’s all my crystal ball shows this day. - IonSabres
im Guessing that would mean we are inserting some kids pretty high up in the lineup
What do u think the lineup looks like?
Specifically the forward lines |

Our center depth is impressive, and further reinforces the (beat to death) ROR-getting-traded-in-the-not-too-distant-future notion.
Would be awesome if Asplund comes in to camp and takes over the 3c role this year. |

I must say I am giving some brain share to the idea of passing on a QB this year and waiting til next year...largely because they do need to consider their probably record next year and therefore the draft position.
With your starting Center and RG retiring...man that sure puts a major hole in the O-line that is charged with opening holes for Shady and for protecting the QB. Tall, very tall order. I wonder if Kyle reconsiders and says bye bye too. If that happens, holy crap we could be looking at Hank Bullough type record...1-15 / 2-14.
So as much as I still want the Bills to maneuver to get BAKER (frank)ING MAYFIELD!
...one has to wonder if the smarter move now is to wait and count on a top 5 pick next year...
2018 draft -
1st - MLB
1st - DL
2nd - OL
2nd - WR
3rd - OL
3rd - DL / OL
Just thinking...still leaning to get the QB for next 10-15 years - IonSabres
The latest Todd McShay mock has Mayfield falling to us at 12

Good point, he did make a strong comment on having 0 depth. That makes me lean towards dumping "core vets" for prospects/ AHL fringe players/ draft picks. I love this approach, it opens the door for new mentality to take over.
I want blood in training camp next year.

That'd be an interesting gamble. People who regularly watch like both but hard to know what kind of growth to expect moving forward.

Hmm I wonder then. I'm still all for keeping him, but I wonder if we could get a decent defender for him, skip the picks and prospects, even add on our side if necessary. |

Would you take on Loui Eriksson's contract if it meant getting a massive haul out of the canucks or would you take a hit in trade value just to move on from the deal? - Sabresfan-365
It depends what we get in return ..

Lookin more and more like my J!E!T!S! are taking Mayfield
As much as I don't want an AFC East rival doing well...I have a lot of friends who are Bills fans. I want to see them be a good team; the rivalry would be great. But trading the farm to move up to No. 2 would be an absolutely typical "daa Billz" move. It would inevitably blow up in their face somehow.
Be patient, you've got something good going. There are always going to be more QBs next year. - feetontheair22
By “typical” do i mean something we’ve NEVER done before?

Without trades and knowiing who we pick in the draft
Erod-Eichel-Okposo
Smith-ROR-Reinhart
Bailey-Mittelstadt-Pominville
Girgensons-?-Baptiste
If we draft Svechnikov or Zadina they slot into Okposo's spot. Perhaps Reinhart is traded then for LW or D help. TK would slot into one of the LW spots or goes back to college. |

made a fantasy lineup. Buckle up and get your flame throwers out. This lineup leaves us over 7M in cap space.
JVR-Eichel-Okposo
Erod-Haula-Reinhart
Smith-Mittelstadt-Pommer
Wilson-Riley Nash-Baptiste
Dahlin-Carlson
Scandella-Risto
Nelson-Guhle
McCabe
Grubauer
Ullmark
ROR was traded for Haula and Hague
Bogo was bought out
Moulson was sent to minors
Larsson was sent to minors, or traded whatever
Girgensons was traded for a pick. Or throw him into the ROR trade, dgaf
A Buffalo 2nd was used to acquire Grubauer's rights.
JVR was signed for 5, Carlson for 7, Nash for 2.8, Grubauer for 3 - TheSabresTaco
JVR will not come to Buffalo, especially for that money.

They could, I just think Brodie is who they'd want to get rid of. I'd rather add and get better tbh. Not sure if I'm dreaming again. |

I imagine they want at least half a season in the AHL for Asplund, probably another full season on Malone. There's stop gap options at center already on the team and a 1 year UFA is an easy option as well. I'd say that the depth at wing is terrible, but when the wings projected to be in the lineup are terrible, then it's just a train wreck, not a depth problem. I mean, look at the wingers people are projecting with Eichel right now... RoR is one of only a few assets that can help that. I don't really view him as a 3C as a luxury this organization has right now.
