Hey Fitz, if you’re out there, heard an update on GR that Grubauer is starting game 1 for the Caps over Holtby. Don’t know if it’s injury related, but figured you’d feel vindicated if it isn’t injury related.

He played 23 games. You think those numbers would hold up over a full season?
Call me skeptical on that. - kingcong39
Best in the league? No.
But he was the best shot differential regular D man for us last year (this is not me calling him the best D man, I'm not Schopp) besides Fedun who didn't play a ton.
In 1985-86, the Leafs finished with 57 points. Luckily, the Red Wings finished with 40 points, so we were comfortably in a playoff spot.
In the 1st round, we upset the Black Hawks (3 games to 0) and almost upset the Blues in the 2nd round (lost in the 7th game).
How awesome would it have been for a 57 point team to make the semis?
Gawd, it was terrible hockey. Unless you liked fights... - Atomic Wedgie
Just looked up the regular season standings for 85/86 season. That Red Wing team had 40 points and a -157 goal differential!
Our 62 point/-81 goal differential '17/18 Sabres team would have destroyed them!

Paul Hamilton said it best yesterday, there were way too many games where you were left just wondering where he was all night.
He's a good player. It's not like he's Matt Moulson, just a phony IMO - sbroads24
ROR should be a 70-75 point player for what he makes
I am fine with him being a 60-65 point player if he was making $1-$1.5 million less, or if he was the tremendous defensive stud.
He is what he is a good 2nd line center. But his "leadership" something he wanted to be when he came here is either non existent or his message has grown extremely stale (or there is a legit split in the locker room between team ROR and team Eichel).
I think eventually if the cap doesn't take a sharp rise he is someone you need to move on from mostly because for $7.5 million you could bring in 2 guys, one to score some goals and one to be a defensive minded 3rd line center which is what I think O'Reilly will end up as with Mittelstadt looking the part so far into his short pro hockey career.

He'd be an excellent addition to a team with a ton of firepower, but not at his cap hit.
He needs to be the 4th best scoring forward on your team, and take the D zone starts.
