Looking at the scores this morning (didn't watch) and I see peoples playoff bracket, I wondered all along how do you not pick the Pens to threepeat ? They would have been my choice right off the jump.
- VANTEL

For me, the Flyers goaltending is awful, so it was an easy pick to get PIT out of the first round. After that though, they have played 295 games since the start of 2015 season and I just didnt think they could sustain another long playoff run given how grueling it is. I also some minor doubts about Matt Murray

Round 2 will be a better indicator of their chances

Thanks Carol, great blog as per usual.

You guys are nuts with your disinterest in the playoffs. This is what hockey is all about. This is what we all hope the Canucks will be pushing for very soon.

Those games last night were awesome! Feel a bit bad for you Flyers fans though I expect they will have a better effort next game.

I picked the Pens to three-peat at the beginning of the season...just sayin'

I'm putting together a list of people who care.

Quite the 'generational' conversation last night.

I’m guessing it’s not a long list. I also have a list, of people who make lists - FYI, you’re on it now

This is the best time of year for hockey: round one is always the most fun.

The Jets atmosphere was fantastic, and I have Vegas getting past LA so was happy to see them win.

I think the “they’ve played so much hockey” narrative is over blown. If they nurse injuries into the summer they come back after the season has started, or start slow, like the Pens did this year. On goaltending, you have a legitimate concern, they really have no safety net now.

I have Bruins beating Pens in the ECF.

I didn’t get to watch LA, but I’m guessing that one will go the distance. It must have been so loud in Winnipeg last night.

It was closer between McDavid and Eichel then it is between Dahlin and Zadina.

That's all.

Not really. McDavid was heralded as the next Gretzky. No one was taking that #1 spot. Same with Dahlin, no one is taking it. Eichel would have gone #1 in this draft if that is what you are getting at.

it was a wiffler for sure, very slow. Still a sick bat out of the air, but nowhere near full speed

So sick! Minnisota looks pretty locked in, that one could go 7 games.

I go back and forth on the narrative myself, because despite the summer being short, there is still a recovery period as you say. I just think that it can sometimes be hard to maintain a high level of energy for such a long period of time, especially when you start going every other night, fatigue (mental or physical) can begin to set in

Not just injury concerns, Matt Murray had worse numbers than Markstrom this season, behind a much better team...

I picked Columbus to meet and beat them in round 2. If they can get by Washington, I think its a matchup that better suits them this year

It will be a battle for sure, but I don’t see the Wild winning on the road, and I think the Jets take at least one in Min. It will be over in 5

If holtby stays out or is not at top form, it could happen.

They had a chance to last night. I expect more one goal games and you know the sword cuts both ways on those.

Apparently Bobrovsky did some therapy to adjust his mental state in dealing with the playoffs. If he's his regular season self, he could steal numerous rounds

I think it'll be a close series, but I'm guessing Vegas in 6. I think their speed will be the deciding factor. Heard last night LA hasn't won a series since their last Cup in '14... they're going down the same path as the Canucks.

I thought about that too...but in my playoff/bracket pool I have the Pens beating Nashville in the final...again.

My backdoor pick was WPG over the Bruins in 6 or 7.
