Anyone suggesting we trade Hamilton is an idiot. Cue Francis. |

Who are our top targets for a Brodie trade?
I'd like to have the following in no particular order:
Mark Stone
Mitch Marner
David Pastrnak
Obviously this is pie in the sky and would likely take more then just Brodie but if you could pick anyone who do you guys think would fit best? - zipfel
Mark Stone would be the only possibility on that list. And that’s still unlikely. |

I hope so. As much as the Sens suck, Mark Stone is a very high-end winger and a great asset for us. If he gets traded, it should be for a haul of picks and/or prospects and/or good young players. Adding Brodie doesn't do much for a rebuilding team. |

brodie is overrated, but the issue is that he's a better player than what he showed this season so do you trade him now or wait for him to rebound next season? |

He's a better player based on what? He's had the same major issues with his game for the last two seasons.
The player he was this season is the player he is. |

if that's the case then move him this summer while some GM's might still view him as a potential top pairing dman in his prime. |

Not sure what kind of return you can expect from Brodie with his "down" year
At this point, we couldn't even get back what we paid to the Isles for Hamonic - cpltanto
People on here like to bash Brodie for his bad year. SMe was said about Hamonic last year and Snow as still able to leverage an unprotected 1st and 2 x 2nds. Brodie is still thought of quite highly amongst other GMs around the league I’m sure. No reason at all Tre couldn’t get similar or more than what Hamonic got. Brodie is all the things Todd said, can play both sides (D that can play right side are huge in this league) and is signed for 2 more years in a value contract. Guys like bunkulese don’t know what they’re talking about in this regard. |

Here’s a quick list of guys I think we could look at and for 1 reason or another, may be able to entice the other team with a trade centered around Brodie. I won’t go into detail why I think for each player because it’d be too long. Also, some players may require additional assets from either side.
Tom Wilson (Caps)
Toffoli (Kings)
Tuch (Knights)
Kapanen (Leafs)
Nyqvist (Wings)
I’m sure there are more but those are just a few that I have thought about. |

I agree 100%. Id love to have him, but trading him for Brodie would make no sense for you guys . But don’t start thinking Stone will get you replacements on that Duchene trade. That was a huge overpay. |

In hindsight, yes. Would have been fine if next year's first wasn't likely to be high.
Insofar as no team would be very likely to trade away a top-10 pick for Stone (because he wouldn't make sense on a rebuilding team), you're right. I think decent top-6 forward + 1st rounder + solid prospect would be a fair ask, though, which is what we gave up for Duchene (the 3rd was for the Avs to take on Hammond's salary). If the team ending up sucking for some reason, that would recoup most of Duchene's value for us

Does he play RW? He’s a left shot. But at $6mil per I wouldn’t give up much. If it’s for Brodie I’d want more in return. |

Brodie for Holtby. - FLflames34
Not a terrible idea. Still doesn’t solve the idea of adding a scoring winger. |

Guys....Brodie is not all that highly regarded my most outside of Calgary or maybe the didvision. At least not AS highly regarded as Ryan Mcdonough. |

Jesus. Morons everywhere I guess...even chia isn’t that dumb. - Iggysbff

Trade him at the draft to some panicking gm rolling out a terrible contingency plan after failing to aquire some good player.
It worked for St Louis when we missed out on Anderssen and got Elliott. It worked for the Isles when the Oil missed out on Dougie and payed almost the same price for Reinhart. GMs get stressed out and turn into hockeybuzz members at the draft. That's when I would trade Brodie.
7-10th pick could be had if we did Brodie+. Other than the Oilers pick. Don't see any teams in the top 6 giving up their pick this year. Kind of a drop off after 6 anyway. Silver lining is the Oil are in bust territory picking out of the top 3 any given year. |

YOU ARE ALIVE!!! Brodie is better then Larrson.
two year season stats:
Brodie: 68 points
Larsson: 32 points
enough said? Brodie is a commodity in the trade market. |

How important are points when your primary job is stopping the other team from scoring?
Brodie has been pretty bad at that this year.
I guess we could start calling them offensemen. |

Bingo.
He had 2 up years and the past 2 years have been more consistent to his norms. He is not a top pairing guy and will not reproduce a return like what Hamonic got. Hamonic is more regarded as a better defensive defenseman with some offensive upside because of his 1 season with plus 30 points. Brods is considered a offensive defenseman with defensive flaws that has seen his offensive numbers drop in the past 2 years. Both at apx the same age. Both showing who they actually are. At 27-28 you should know what you're getting from either. Brodie is kind of trending down and doesnt hold a ton of value.... Hamonic is kinda stagnant and only hold minor upside with what his offense might still become because he showed growth 2 years ago. |

Tom wilson is a RFA
Toffoli is cheap and still controllable on a cap strapped team
Tuch is a rookie on entry level team.
Kapanen is entry level and a team/ fan fav on the cheap
Nyquist I'm not sure about the hype about him. Maybe gem eventually. |

And what did Calgary give up for Hamonic? Total damage is comparable. |
