this implies that the guys occupying the other "impact positions" are actually impact players.
A lot of the evidence would suggest that it's at the very least questionable whether they are. In particular referring to ROR and Risto.
When you lack all kinds of depth, you're bad. When you finish 31st, you're broken. Standing pat would be idiotic - Sabresfan-365
But is keeping ROR & Risto really “standing pat” though?
Mittelstadt
Top4 pick
Guhle
Nelson
Ullmark
Rodrigues
Bailey
Baptiste
Wilson
All guys projected to be in our starting lineup on opening night that we’re not this past season
I realize each player’s talent level differs...
but those guys are talented
and provide a major upgrade in speed/skating
Changing out 1/3 of your roster is NOT
“standing pat” imo |

If that kid was Mexican/Asian/White I would bet dollars to donuts that this isn't in the news at all. I wonder why that is???? (sarcasm)
It's sad really, nobody does anything but complain about it.
There are bad people in this world: white, black, Asian, etc.
There are racist people in this world: white, black, Asian, etc.
I am not going to get drawn into a debate about racism, I am also not naïve enough to think that it isn't out there, I am also intelligent enough to realize the media sensationalizes every little piece of news that has a shock value to it.
Want to know why the double murder wasn't front page news on CNN? It's because it was a black on black crime, want to know why the child molester wasn't front page news on FoxNews? It's because he was a white pastor.
The media is not selling the actual news with actual reporting anymore, they are selling shock value and their political beliefs. - Stripes77

If they don't make a significant trade or FA signing, I'll consider it largely standing pat. It's just semantics though. Either you want to see a 'core' shakeup or you don't.

I Want my 1st Rd pick/Lehner back!
& Nikita Zadorov,
& JT Compher,
& Tyler Myers,
& William Carrier
& Joel Armia,
& Brayden McNabb
& Jack Roslovic
Please........ - MEBSabresFAN
1st for Lehner-
bad trade, almost all of us said it
Zadorov-
had/has potential to be a good player, price to pay for DEFINITELY getting a good player
Compher-
bottom 6 guy, whatever- we have lots of those coming
Myers-
> Bogo at this point for sure- injuries & Myers being on a better team make this look like more of a landslide than it was at the time though
Carrier-
nice 4th liner, but whatever
Armia-
bottom 6 guy, AGAIN whatever
McNabb-
this one still hurts
The day it happened i said it was a sh!tty trade & got crap from ppl on here
When he was playing a lot with Doughty, i again said it was a terrible trade & had to argue about “how good McNabb really is”
And now he’s on the top pair for Vegas,
and it’s BAR NONE the WORST trade stupid drunk ass GMTM made in his time here
Roslovic-
still a question as to how good he will be,
and no way to know if we’d even have picked him or not |

Agreed. McNabb and Myers hurt. I love Zadorov, but let's be honest, getting out of Buffalo was what helped him. He wasn't known for trying.

I don’t see how u call it “standing pat” when over 1/3 of your starting roster will be new
And I’m not talking “new” as in scrubs like Pouliot, Griffith, Tennyson, etc etc
These are all young talented guys that can contribute & potentially grow into really good players for us
Arguably 4 likely “core” guys in Mittelstadt, top4 pick, Guhle & Ullmark
That’s about 20% of the roster right there
U really think that’s not gonna make an impact? |

Myers needed the change of scenery too
And joining a team where he didn’t have to be “the guy” on defense has had a pretty big effect on his play imo as well
I don’t think he’s the player he is now with the Jets if he’s still on Buffalo
But what do i know?
Some ppl act like “situation” doesn’t matter at all |

Hysterical!
Why do you make this a race thing. Hater.
So if one ethnic group (in general) is afraid of another ethnic group (in general), what were the reasons for this? It sure isn’t simple by any means. Somewhere in there though is that one ethnic group experienced something to cause that worry they have.
Point is, it all isn’t vanilla and chocolate... there are many variations of twists...I.e. all sides are complicit in the long running problem.
Using the flag and anthem as THE platform is offensive to me...pick another one and I’m willing to truly listen...if others are willing to truly listen - IonSabres
White ppl and Black ppl ARE TREATED DIFFERENTLY
ESPECIALLY BY THE COPS
If u don’t think this is true,
take off your FoxNews blinders & step out into the real world
Yeah, the Media sensationalizes events
But that doesn’t mean what’s going on is ok,
No matter what % u think is “acceptable” |

Wait, so Myers is good because of the team he’s on and the “situation”, but Brayden McNabb doesn’t qualify for that exact scenario?
I mean, literally almost everyone on Vegas is producing way above what they ever have. That’s more than coincidental |

U really don’t think Myers benefits from playing 2nd pair on a good team vs 3rd pair on a bad team?
And no, comparing McNabb doesn’t exactly hold up
He was never really given the chance here to show what he could do
Yet he was Good on LA, and has been Really Good on Vegas
Do i think McNabb would be as good here on the Sabres?
No
But i think he’d help
And i never said Meyers wouldn’t “help” here either
But i do think it was unlikely he’d break out of his funk if he was stuck here in his previous role with us
Probably would’ve helped Risto though |

Hey I don’t dislike McNabb, I think he’s just fine.
But it’s funny to me how Myers has been trashed for so long that he’s actually becoming under rated.
He literally does everything. Top 4 minutes 5 on 5. Top PK, and 2nd PP unit, 30+ points. On the ice in final minute to hold onto lead. All on a top 3 team.
He never turned out like we thought, and probably isn’t a 5.5 per D man, but we without a doubt could use him with our defense. |
