a lot of stats to pour through...that said I think that what I got was that ror's a bit overpaid and despite having a rough year mentally on a piss poor team, he still reached typical ror numbers - Michael Pachla
He absolutely hit his offensive numbers by the score sheet. Just the main problem is that he's overpayed, probably by about 2 million. |

is that what that long, stats-driven piece was all about? |

Two weeks til lottery drawing. That is going to be a fun few days for Buffalo sports fans.
Thanks for posting the locker clean out interviews. When ROR was saying the statements he is being scrutinized for, he was looking at the reporters. Kinda can relate with where he’s coming from. The losing and tanking is a sickness and it’s hard to cure.
Sabres should keep him for another year. Let’s see how he plays at Worlds. Anyone know when that starts? |

if anything, keeping him for another year allows Mittelstadt to get a full season of NHL action under his belt |

the sabres scored 198 goals this year...
they got rid of the speedy kane who had 20 goals...now we're ready to get rid of another 24/25 goals in ror/skunk...
that would represent jettisoning 44 of 198 goals or nearly a quarter of their goal production this season...
not arguing your skating point, just sayin' - Michael Pachla
I really think this all comes down to where the Sabres are drafting in the first round.
If they somehow win the lottery (they won't) they will draft Dahlin and would probably be less inclined to move Sam/ROR.
However if they draft 2-4 they're getting a winger with speed and scoring. Then it would make sense to move one of Sam/ROR for blue line help.
Also a lot of this depends on how Reinhart's contract negotiations end up. Depending on his starting price and where GMJB starts Sam might be the one to go. I still think a 3 year bridge deal at $4-$4.5 million would be a good place to be for both parties. It would give Sam 3 years to prove his worth and earn a big payday and it would give the Sabres some flexibility and time to evaluate who the real Reinhart is. Plus I believe it keeps him as a RFA. |

If we pray hard enough will Bogo's and Moulson's contract be voided? |

They would be strong down the middle. For as much as peeps say ROR doesn’t fit Housley’s alleged up tempo system, he sure as hell played ROR a lot in it. To tell you the truth, the examples of when the Sabres did play Housley’s system that Botts and others point to, they won, but didn’t seem like some fast paced up tempo game to me. Crazy they had a winning record vs the top 3 teams in the division. |

Yes, team speed is important but if you don't use it does it matter?
The Sabres are not a fast team other than a few.
Nashville is a fast team and they use their speed
A few years ago Philly was a fast team but they slowed their game down with boring hockey.
The Devils is another perfect example from 2 years ago they had a similar roster, but change the coach and add a few key guys and they are flying. |

They aren't able to sustain it though, which is the issue.

That right there is the $64,000 question
My guess is players not following the sytem, as well as fatigue, and well some of them aren't talented enough to do it on the regular. |
