Sure people say replace ROR and his 60 points is easy, replace Kane and his 60 points is easy, it is ? then why can't we do it and succeed? - SABRES 89
I can assure you, I'm not saying ROR's 60 points are easy to replace. |

I'm a military guy, so when I think leadership, these are the terms I think in.
If I were in combat experiencing losses, and my SGT says, "I've lost my love for the Army and we've just become OK with losing soldiers." That SGT gets busted to PVT because he has no position in leadership, because that's not leadership.
According to ROR and his father, citing the Vogl's piece, "ROR is a superstar not for skill, but for character." Saying you gave up when stuff got tough is not character.
Yes, losing takes its toll that's why I can move past this. I can't imagine the stress he's under.
But if he comes in here and "checks out" like he did this year again we have a problem. He does need more help and effort from others though, I"ll concede that.
But adversity reveals character. - gcomella34
Thanks for your service because of folks like you we can go on with our ever day life, some people don't understand that, you know the ones that KNEEL.
Now onto ROR, i'm shocked more players on this team haven't " checked out" this crap has gone on long enough with this organization. Botterill has his hands full but I do see your point. |

He turned it on in January when the season was long over. How about the 40 games of Sam being useless? - GilPerreault11
I'm in the boat that you can't just say he was useless for 40 but disregard what he did in the other 40.
Just like you can't say he was amazing since January and disregard what he did October-December.
Do I think he could keep up his pace since January all season long? No probably not, just like many on here (including me) said he wouldn't be in a season long funk like he was the first half of the season.
I think he is a 60-65 point player, not a 25 point player like he was on pace for the first half of the year and not a 85 point player he was on pace for the second half of the year. |

again, there was 12 wingers playing and the kid was tied for 15th in goal scoring for all the right wingers in the NHL
kid just turned 22 and scored 2 less goals than Patty Kane this year
there is a huge list of issues with this roster
he is the least of our worries
we can't score for sh!t and lets trash the 22 year old who led this team in goals
based on that logic, lets trash and trade eichel and let casey take over the number 1 center this fall
and then lets trash botts and get a new gm
and then lets move guhle because he didn't score points when he came up
no goal scoring from left wingers
okposo played like a piece of sh!t
that is your goal scoring issues for the top 6
not reinhart
not eichel
not ror
god damn it, you made me justify keeping ror

Please note that I said "If I were in combat..." never was, not into stolen valor. Want to make sure to specify that as there are plenty on this board that have, they're the people you thank.
I think more players have checked out, that's PART of the problem.
Side note: Was looking in the comments in the Vogl piece, there were people saying guys like ROR need to go so we can get guys like Carrier "that we need".
Yeah I mean, the one thing this team needs is ANOTHER fourth liner at the expense of at worst a 2C.

and people wonder why I call him skunk

Maybe, maybe not. Biron stated that Reinhart was actually one of the players they were very happy with because he started applying what the coaches were telling him and working with them more the second half of the season. Take that for what it's worth.
But, if it's true and he FINALLY put it all together and led the team in goals while only producing half the year...do we really want to kick him to the curb? |

You don't just trade a player like ROR, there will be more to come regarding him. - SABRES 89
I agree with you on a lot of things, but this one I disagree with considering he was traded for his ways (and his father's ways) when he was in Colorado.
A true leader doesn't come out and say he lost his passion for hockey like he did, he could have worded it a lot better at least.
Do I think he quit on the team? No. Do I think it was difficult for him to come to the rink everyday especially towards the end of the season? Yes.
Do I think he is this great leader he claims to be? No. Do I think he wants to be this great leader he thinks he is? Yes.
I think the one thing he could really do to prove his worth and leadership is to come out and say this is Jack's team and I will be on his side working with him and the rest of the team to get to where they need to go.
A true leader knows when there is someone better suited to be in charge to step aside.
Make no mistake, no matter how much he won't admit it but O'Reilly needs to get over the fact that this isn't his team, it's Jack's team.
Doing that would be a huge first step in a locker room that is clearly torn. Joe Thorton handled being stripped of his C with class. ROR could learn a thing from him. |

I think he was as well.
I don't think he is a top 10 scoring player for a full NHL season though but I would gladly take 65 points a year from him. |

Nope, I want to keep Reinhart as long as he isn't expecting $6 million a year for 6 years right now.
Reinhart was the guy I wanted them to draft, I believe he is still a core player for the Sabres going forward. |

Once in a while I will respond to Gerbe but other then that I ignore him, I don't respond to Beady he just like including me in his posts for what reason I don't know. |

Contract is going to be interesting. That will get interesting.
Sounded like JB was ready to trade some people who SEEMED untouchable, sounded like it though doesn't guarantee it.
Just trying to figure out who it may be.
Could have just been a motivation tactic as well, who knows. |

no he is not a top 10 scoring player
and he is not the upbeat north south player botts or housley wants
but if you have that upbeat center and lw, reinhart IMO will be just fine
so if we keep ror, skunk needs to either play with jack or casey
and I see it happening
then again I am fine playing
casey-jack-skunk
nylander-ror-svechnikov
for the top 2 lines if we get pick 2

He was losing in Colorado, he was coming to a team that just finished last again and he signed a massive contract as soon as he got here.
He knew what he was signing up for, I will never be okay with a supposed leader of a team saying he lost his passion for the game he plays for a living. |
