So we basically have 2 guys that are fast and the rest cement block skaters besides - gerbe75pts
Mittelstadt isn't fast, per se...he has excellent skating ability but he isn't even close to jack flash |

That's why I'd trade one. We can go in circles all day, if you'd like. Do you think they 'played fast' together?

Erod is fast imo. But yes, it is a slow team. We need faster wingers. Thankfully Botterill knows it as well. Also, I can't be the only one who's watched a game where a player goes flying by and you go "who was that?" And it was Reinhart. Sometimes he can move pretty quick. |

I do think teams play faster when they're locked into what the coaching staff wants to do and have the talent to do it, when they're playing with confidence in themselves and their linemates/d-partner, and when they have confidence in their goaltending...
the sabres played fast on more than a few occasions this season with the same team they've had for much of the latter half of the season |

Pominville played a good amount of time with Eichel and it wasn't great. I think Pominville had the best season that could reasonably expected. What he produced is the most he can do imo. - jcragcrumple
Really don't want this to be a Pomminville discussion. He's just an average third line player at this point, maybe less. I'm just saying that even if you plugged him on the top PP, he scores 10 more points and matches Okposo's season.
My point is simply that their top 5 scorers were their top PP. Most teams are pretty similar to that. Anyone who plays top PP minutes has their numbers inflated. Some of those players get overvalued because of it.

Not quite a playoff choker
Year--------GP GAA. SV%
2011-12---14 1.95 .935
2012-13----7 2.22 .922
2014-15---13 1.71 .944
2015-16---12 1.72 .942
2016-17---13 2.47 .909
I'll take him - chilliard77
They can't make it past the 2nd round, and especially last year, he was awful. Eventually it falls on the goalie.

so they had to move kane, who was their top 5v5 goal scorer and top goal-scorer last season...you want to move ror, who was their second leading scorer the last two years and lead the team in jack's rookie year...and you want to move risto who's one of only three d-men in sabres history to have three consecutive 40-points seasons? - Michael Pachla
Pach, serious question for you...
How would you recommend reconstructing this team to be a bubble playoff team next year, 2018-2019?
Your points are valid, however how do you reconcile them with:
- 31st finish, at 62sh points
- 25th finish year before
- GM and Coach both said they need to get faster, not “play” faster
- guy brought in to lead and was overpaid for it, doesn’t ... in fact rumors surround him on multiple fronts including having a rift with the assumption next captain
- Dman cited as being cited player refusing to play in two systems
- winger who took off nearly 40 games ... good on him for saving his contract year (must have ran into Stanford in January)
Couple the above with the fact trading Girgs and Larssons ain’t going to cut it.
What is in your head? I’m seriously interested, not trolling.
