Pominville played a good amount of time with Eichel and it wasn't great. I think Pominville had the best season that could reasonably expected. What he produced is the most he can do imo. - jcragcrumple
It’s pretty clear to me...
Play Pommer on Jack’s wing in Oct / Nov ...the waive him and give him the Moulson-sendoff
Plug-in Sam in January.
Tell those guys they are sharing ONE $5M contract.
I think the groin injury really hurt him both physically and mentally.
I was at his first NHL game and saw his goal. I was so excited after that because he seemed like a great bottom 6 power forward high energy player. - Shadman306
So what you're saying is he could be a great power bottom?

Can’t wait for the games tonight.
Bos-To ... come on Bruins, might be only time in my life I am rooting for them, hopefully for only 4 games.
Bolts-NJ ... love watching that team. JT Miller is freakin fun to watch...The Who.e team is just so highly skilled ... Christ, even Callahan would be an upgrade on the Sabres.
I do think teams play faster when they're locked into what the coaching staff wants to do and have the talent to do it, when they're playing with confidence in themselves and their linemates/d-partner, and when they have confidence in their goaltending...
the sabres played fast on more than a few occasions this season with the same team they've had for much of the latter half of the season - Michael Pachla
Which brings us back around to the fact that they can't do this with any consistency because they lack the talent. They have a lot of holes to fill, and not a lot of assets to use to do so. I'm sticking to my sell high philosophy.
Pach, serious question for you...
How would you recommend reconstructing this team to be a bubble playoff team next year, 2018-2019?
Your points are valid, however how do you reconcile them with:
- 31st finish, at 62sh points
- 25th finish year before
- GM and Coach both said they need to get faster, not “play” faster
- guy brought in to lead and was overpaid for it, doesn’t ... in fact rumors surround him on multiple fronts including having a rift with the assumption next captain
- Dman cited as being cited player refusing to play in two systems
- winger who took off nearly 40 games ... good on him for saving his contract year (must have ran into Stanford in January)
Couple the above with the fact trading Girgs and Larssons ain’t going to cut it.
What is in your head? I’m seriously interested, not trolling. - IonSabres
that's a lot to ask for... but a couple of things:
they better get their goaltending straightened out by finding themselves a vet to back up (and maybe even take over for) linus...last year weak goals helped dig their hole deeper and as their confidence waned, the downward spiral went deeper and faster...
I think a lot of the overall speed botts and Housley are looking for will come from a wave of players already in the system--a full year of erod, Mittelstadt and baptiste will add speed and/or quickness as well as skill...bailey will add speed and if Nylander makes it, that's more speed and (hopefully) skill
as for the rest, we'll see what happens with the lottery

And if anything, what exactly is the problem with changing a last place team?
People act like were right on the cusp or something?

Was thinking, we hear of various NFL players, (usually QB’s) who orchestrate time during the offseason to invite in other players (usually their WRs) to build chemistry and hone their skills a bit.
Never heard of that in the NHL ... although most of them play in summer leagues...but usually not with their teammates.
Wonder if the D would get together and practice their breakout passes.
Same with the O, practice neutral zone passing and zone entries.
God knows they could use it.

The only player you could say you're selling high on is Eichel. Reinhart played half a year, Okposo was way off, and ROR needs a shrink. Might be selling high on Erod, but why would you trade him?
