I'm pretty sure we agree that we'd deal almost anyone on this team for the right return. I always advocate selling high, but we're just guessing at values. I just want 1 significant deal, I'm not pushing for a slew of panic trades.
If they find the right deal for RoR, then you make what ever adjustments are necessary. Center is the only position of strength in the organization. If you need a center for a year to bridge the gap, then you grab a UFA.
An Okposo trade brings back a bad deal. I'm holding onto him for another year. - Lunaion
I get that
And I’d say that most on here agree with you
I don’t even disagree, really
Just saying the transformation of this team into the vision that Botts supposedly has might not occur as soon as u guys are thinking |

Was thinking, we hear of various NFL players, (usually QB’s) who orchestrate time during the offseason to invite in other players (usually their WRs) to build chemistry and hone their skills a bit.
Never heard of that in the NHL ... although most of them play in summer leagues...but usually not with their teammates.
Wonder if the D would get together and practice their breakout passes.
Same with the O, practice neutral zone passing and zone entries.
God knows they could use it. - IonSabres
Most of the boys go back home and skate with other NHLers/AHLers/D1 guys
The QB/WR chemistry is probably the most important chemistry wise in all of pro sports IMO |

The only player you could say you're selling high on is Eichel. Reinhart played half a year, Okposo was way off, and ROR needs a shrink. Might be selling high on Erod, but why would you trade him? - jcragcrumple
You kind of got me thinking, what are the top 10 Sabres trade assets? There's a couple I wouldn't want to move, but the list really gets thin at the end.
Jack
#1 pick
Casey
Risto
RoR
Sam
Guhle
Nylander
#2 pick
Scandella? Asplund?

that's a lot to ask for... but a couple of things:
they better get their goaltending straightened out by finding themselves a vet to back up (and maybe even take over for) linus...last year weak goals helped dig their hole deeper and as their confidence waned, the downward spiral went deeper and faster...
I think a lot of the overall speed botts and Housley are looking for will come from a wave of players already in the system--a full year of erod, Mittelstadt and baptiste will add speed and/or quickness as well as skill...bailey will add speed and if Nylander makes it, that's more speed and (hopefully) skill
as for the rest, we'll see what happens with the lottery - Michael Pachla
Well, one thing is for sure...the next two years are going to be interesting.
I do think it is time to see what Bailey and Baptiste have for a full season. I’m not sure either is top 6 material though. Maybe they could surround CM on The Kid Line.
As much as I rag on Nylander, they need for that kid to develop into a full-time NHL in the Top 6 fo4 sure..I’m pulling for the kid, not because he deserves it, but because the Sabres are desperate for it.
If they draft 2,3 or 4th then they presumptively get another top 6 winger to step in.
With all that, though those guys are virtually all RWs where Okposo and Pommer are.
The FA’s on the left are all rather bleak...except for our friend EK.
This leads me to conclude that at least one of Sam and ROR is going to balance out the LW...and maybe a D.

Doesn't Jack deserve better wingers? - Lunaion
1) Sam isn’t a bad player
2) the LW was unnamed
3) not like we can trade for Kucherov
4) it’s not like Crosby has great wingers
Do u wanna build a line?
Or do u wanna build a team?
It’s gonna take time to get the kind of lineup it seems u want |

Leadership might step up and say...this is part of the fix for next year boys...come join me in Boston for two (2) weeks ... I have $10m burning a hole in my pocket...expenses are on me!
No yelling* or scream...leading.
Hmm who is that guy on D?
Maybe The DJ could pony up with The Finn? |

If an RoR trade + the draft gets me 2 wingers for Jack, I'll take that option....assuming the balls don't bounce our way.

They can't make it past the 2nd round, and especially last year, he was awful. Eventually it falls on the goalie. - Wetbandit1
Last year he was bad
The previous 4 years he averaged a .937 save%
Tough to blame the goalie when he’s playing that well

JvR, James Neal, Rick Nash...
Next tier down,
guys like Perron, Vanek & Maroon are available
Not that i necessarily want any of those guys, or that they’d even come here

I’d be cool signing JvR or Neal,
but i can’t really imagine either would come here
I would DEFINITELY play the kids over bringing in guys like Pouliot
Maybe a guy like Perron makes sense,
but now we are talking about most likely overpaying for guys who are just “good”
So that’s probably not the best way to go |
