Hard to say but like I mentioned before, LOSING is really taking it's toll on this team and organization. This can't keep up.

Not that it's ideal, but the Blackhawks were bad for nearly a decade before they got Keith, Toews, Kane, etc. That notion is overblown. You become a better team by getting better players. Better players win games. Captain obvious, I know, but how long you've been bad beforehand really has nothing to do with it.

I read it a week ago. It's nothing new. Just a heaping helping of speculation

It just makes too much sense to trade O’Reilly IMO.

Mittelstadt will absolutely have that 2C job soon, and O’Reilly can be moved before he’s out of his prime.

It’s really a no brainer

It's a no brainer if you can get the other team to take all of his contract so the Sabres don't have to eat any of it. Not a fan of moving ROR or Risto but if you can bring back a good package for ROR then you do it.

Especially now, if "more than 50% of GM's covet a player like Ryan O'Reilly" if that is actually to be believed.

I think ROR has value league wide. I think if he’s moved now, at 27, you’ll get a solid return

I'd move ROR before Risto, try to build the Defense especially if we gt the 1st pick. As long as we don't have to eat any of his contract that's fine with me. Usually you keep a player like ROR.

Butcher's a cheap little (frank), eh? Spearing Conacher.

That was an unavoidable hit. Shouldn't even be a penalty.

Bullpoop that the Devils end up with a PP out of that.

Do u think the return will be less if he’s moved at age 28?

Id be fine if they kept him, but I’m a Mittelstadt Guy.

I think he’s going to be awesome

Possibly. He's at a point where his reputation has more value than his production. That doesn't usually last very long.

Does that jacka$$ actually have “insider” knowledge?

Doubt it

- jdfitz77

he did call the ROR trade roughly 24 hours before it happened. maybe he just knows the agent really well

If they keep him I think he can play the Kadri role for us. Get the defensive matchups and play on the power play. Will never score 30 goals but if he maintains his 55 point clip its respectable. The question is, can he produce the same with decreased minutes.

I think he likes the idea of Eichel-Mitts-O'Reilly down the middle too much to get an offer worth making that deal.

IIRC, the day he took over he was asked about Ristolainen and he flat out called him a top 4 guy.

Plus, I think Risto at 4 more years and 21 or so million is far easier to move than a guy who is due 6 million during the potential (probable) lockout.

Fwiw I'd move ROR as well but I think the contract hurts his value a bit.

Sure, but does O’Reilly like the sound of that?

IMO the O’Reilly trade will be fine with O’Reilly himself

This.

Either you will this team to win and contribute to it or you set the record for faceoff wins in a season and pout.

Hard to say. Jordan Staal was fine with it on the pens, pay day ultimately ended that three headed monster.

Maybe if they wait till July 1 and pay up ROR's bonus for the year (7 or so mil i think) someone becomes more interested. Canucks or Habs come to mind

And while I’m not a fan of his, I wouldn’t blame him for not wanting to be a 3rd liner.

He would easily be a 1 on 2-3 teams and a 2 on others
