What do you think it would take to get Holtby? Just curious. - Ftown19125
Don't know. i think a 1st rounder would need to be there. I am not sure they will need a roster player as they need cap space if they want to resign Carlsson. i could see him around 6.5 to 7.5 million.
To Philly: Holtby
To Washington: STL 1st rounder(if this year), German Rubstov, Robert Hagg,
Probably a starting point. Maybe would need to add a pick our end or swap picks so they move up in some round |

Obviously I want him playing for the experience but I get it. He has struggled and this game tomorrow is probably the season. they lose and go back to Pitts down 3-1 its over. |

Ok.
Well he hasn't been at his best.
While I understand getting the youngsters learning experiences they are still trying to win this series. |

Anyone think Lindblom could be a little rattled from that high stick he took game 1? Maybe a little overwhelmed being in his first playoff series? |

I'm a little tired of expecting a "bounce back game". Do I want one? Well Yes, I have no choice if I want to see my team advance. At the same time, I want a lot more consistency from the Philadelphia Flyers. I want them to be prepared every night.
I have a question for all. To you, how do our Stars match up to other Stars? To me, Giroux is apart of the cream of the crop. He's been a big game player in all situations over the course of his career, multiple times. Can we say the same about Voracek and Simmonds?
Do we have stars that match up to Toews, Kane, Crosby or Malkin's level? I'll add Briere to this mix who has never won a Cup. - SuperSchennBros
I look at it this way, Giroux was drafted 22? Jake 6th or 7th? Simmonds a 2nd rounder? I don't expect them to be generational talents like Crosby (1st) and Malkin (2nd) or a player line Kane (1st) etc etc. I hate when players get compared like that. I cringe when people say Giroux is no Crosby. No poop. To win they need to build complete teams and have a really solid goalie. just the way I view it.

Yup. Jay and I discussed his views on the topic over dinner after the game on Sunday and I totally agreed with his assessment. He believes the team isn't READY to beat the Penguins (or Caps) but the cracks are starting to show with the current elite teams and clubs like the Flyers are getting deeper and better. The gap is getting narrower. There's going to be a changing of the guard in the relatively near future, even if this isn't the year it happens.
Contrast that to a columnist who mailed in his half-dozenth "Flyers just aren't as good as (fill in the team name) and have a long way to go" piece that he pulls out every year about this time. - bmeltzer
Yup and I see it exactly the same way. In order to win in the NHL IMO, you need:
A legit 1C and 2 more quality centers
Size, speed and skill in your bottom six forward group
A legit #1 Dman, 2 others that can either play on the top pair or anchor the 2nd and 2 more that can either play on the 2nd pair or anchor the 3rd
A quality starting goalie
They are a lot closer than a lot of folks around here give them credit for. As far as the head coach goes, I think he's done an overall solid job with what he's been given to work with. Is he perfect? Far from it, but he's not clueless either. Is he a coach that can lead a team to a Cup? I don't know, and if you are being honest, none of you know either.
When it comes to coaching, I can tell you this much thought. When the Flyers hired Fred Shero most "experts" around the league saw an aging career minor league coach who would never be anything special at the NHL level. A lot of the same experts, 13 years later, thought Mike Keenan was too young and inexperienced to be an NHL head coach as well. Any coach is only going to be as good as his talent. He can improve a teams performance to some degree by installing a good, smart system and getting his players to buy into it, but no coach, be it Shero, Bowman, or Babcock can turn 2018's Val Filppula into a top 6 center or make Jori Lehtera faster or turn AMac or Gudas into effective top pair Dmen.
Whether you like it or not, if you truly are fan of the Flyers and you want them to not only succeed, but to able to contend for many years to come, you are just going to have to continue to be patient. It's going to happen, folks. |

I know...I was just being a Richard. I don't think he should be scratched, but I don't care that he is.
I do think that has nothing to do with the need to start him as a top 6 forward in the NHL though. He would've made the bottom 6 stronger all season |

I don't know.
It's his first NHL playoffs. The regular season is one thing but everyone knows the playoffs increase even more. I just think it's a rookie hitting a little adversity. |

Interesting. Guess that still leaves Raffl on the top line unless they are willing to take a shot at loading up both lines and rolling with: G-Coots-Simmonds.

I am fine with it for the most part. But it just gets tiresome when you see other players that have made the same errors all year but are not removed. At least they are changing it up a little. Hopefully they win. |

I can't rip him for that, Lindblom is generating zero offense in this series and he's not one of your PK guys. While I'd rather see him try a kid like Konecny on the PK and scratch Lehtera, it's not something I'm going to get worked up about. So I guess Simmonds is going up to the top line then, well, if playing with G and Coots can't get him going, nothing will.
I just hope that he gets Hagg in for Manning. That's the change I'm hoping to see.

LOL I'm sorry but if you're saying you wouldn't take Crosby on your team, you are absolutely delusional. - ajw12
Not delusional at all.. despite how great a hockey player he is.. he's still acts like a whiney little brat. Would the Flyers win more games with him on their roster, definitely.. but that doesn't mean I want him on my team. I hate watching prima-donna players in any sport, at any level.

He's not even close to as bad as he was 6-7 years ago. I don't know, I wouldn't even call him whiny at this point. Malkin is 100 times worse in my opinion, but I'd take both. |
