Not delusional at all.. despite how great a hockey player he is.. he's still acts like a whiney little brat. Would the Flyers win more games with him on their roster, definitely.. but that doesn't mean I want him on my team. I hate watching prima-donna players in any sport, at any level. - sleepy_floyd

Game 4 lines:
Giroux-Couturier-Voracek
Konecny-Patrick-Simmonds
Raffl-Filppula-Weal
Laughton-Lehtera-Read
Same D pairs.
Scratches are Lindblom, Leier, Weise, Hägg and Oduya. - bmeltzer
Bill,
Why is Hagg not getting in. For most of the season he was one of their better defenders. I would think his simple but positional and physical game would be helpful against this team. Also I could see him being a help on the PK.
i understand Sanheim came up and played well but is Manning doing that much that he is keeping Hagg out? That is one spot I do question Hakstol's thinking.
Side Note: I thought Tanner Laczynski would leave Ohio State after this year but does it look like he'll go back? Also Allison. i know he got hurt but just seemed like both could leave as I actually thought they could be close to NHL guys with the way they play the game. |

So you're telling me you would not take Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid on the Flyers just because they whine to the refs here and there? |

Lehterä really has not been bad, but when he’s on the PK and once the Pens get possession and set up, he is a liability. When they start going back and forth between the half wall and the point, Lehterä gets caught in between and sets up a screen on his goalie more then anything.
He’s been really good denying and breaking up the initial zone entry, but too slow once they get set up.

Oh well, I'm totally fine with the lines but I do think that the coach is doing both the team and the player a disservice by keeping Manning in the lineup over Hagg. It's not even like Manning is playing well and you'd want to keep him in for that reason. Putting Hagg in will not hurt the team, might help the team and gets the kid some valuable playoff experience. It just makes no sense.

I said that while watching on Sunday. They don't cheer unless the Flyers are going well. Sitting on there hands most of the time. Not saying they should cheer all the time but that place went dead when Crosby made it 1-0. |

That is one i don't agree with.
Other thoughts:
Simmonds better come out flying.
I was actually wondering if moving to the top line would have sparked something since he has actually got chances. Let him use his speed and grit on the forcheck.
Giroux - Couturier - Laughton
Konecny - Patrick - Voracek
Weal - Filppula - Simmonds

How about the Flyers give them something to cheer about. They cheered while the Flyers dominated the first 10 minutes. They did cheer at the push back after 1-0. But after 2-0 what did you want them to cheer for....the dumb stick penalties being taken? |

Yup. Jay and I discussed his views on the topic over dinner after the game on Sunday and I totally agreed with his assessment. He believes the team isn't READY to beat the Penguins (or Caps) but the cracks are starting to show with the current elite teams and clubs like the Flyers are getting deeper and better. The gap is getting narrower. There's going to be a changing of the guard in the relatively near future, even if this isn't the year it happens.
Contrast that to a columnist who mailed in his half-dozenth "Flyers just aren't as good as (fill in the team name) and have a long way to go" piece that he pulls out every year about this time. - bmeltzer
