Bingo ! If we draft Dahlin he takes Risto's spot on PP1 unless they go two defenseman on the backend. Risto's point production will be cut in half. Not saying that's worth trading him but its food for thought. - Pegullaville
Even if he didn't, we're still talking about a guy with comparable stats to McCabe everywhere but the power play. why is that a good reason for building around him? |

Meaning, highly skilled, would have been killed, no one would have stuck up for him, he would have been half the player he should have been. |

Yes but our team runs 4 forwards on the power play. Obviously that can change and Okposo can come off for Dahlin if need be. If we were to get the first overall pick its Scandella or McCabe who need to watch their back not Risto. I think we move ROR for a winger in that case. |

They aren't building around him, I think they realize it's pretty clear he isn't the #1 d they need.
They would have a player in Dahlin and a player in Risto who would already be here so they didn't have to "build around Dahlin" Risto would be a complimentary player to Dahlin

so if you're not building around him, and he's not producing anywhere except the power play, why wouldn't you cash in?
He'd bring back a haul or he could be packaged with picks and prospects to get a top pair guy. |

They deserve to keep losing if they move Risto, we are trying to build up the Defense and adding Dahlin if we can get him with Risto is better moving forward then getting Dahlin and not having Risto. They want to move on from ROR that's fine as long as the return is big and makes sense for the Sabres. Hard to find D men like Risto, it was a bad year for the whole team no need to blame Risto. |

Stop already, the defense is worse by far if you move him, jesus christ how people on this blog find ways to complain about every player not named Eichel. Can't keep moving out players. |

But if he only gets points on the PP wouldn't every other GM see that and not give up a haul for him?
ROR is more of a commodity it seems around the league than Risto. |

Why, just because I have a differing opinion? The guy doesn't produce anywhere but the power play and isn't good in his own end. I realize part of that is because he plays crazy minutes and Im fine with him being here for the foreseeable future. But 2nd pair guys like him aren't irreplaceable and if someone comes with a huge offer, that's a no brainer. |
