Ror to colorado : for jt comptner , zadarov , a 1st and any former Russian 1st round fringe guy? - Boss34
Lot of hate for O’Reilly. I certainly wouldn’t trade him right now for a return that we gave away.
A bottom pair defensman, ho hum 3rd liner. A dude that isn’t even in NHL and a 2nd Rd pick???
Would anyone be happy with that return right now??? Plus we got McGinn in trade. |

So we have a chance at Grigorenko and Fasching?
No thank you. Players. We need players - jcragcrumple
Fasching? He was a 4th rounder.
So people want the 1st rounder for Kane, but they don’t want One for O’Reilly because it’s guaranteed to be Grigorenko?
I’m confused |

How many nhl teams would ror br the #1 center?
How many teams would risto be the #2 defenseman?
Seams like ror is wanted , especially if we eat 1.5 million a year. Ror ar 6 is a steal for #1 center |

I don't want a mid first and a prospect for him. That's far too much risk for a commodity as proven and consistent as ROR. That would be a terrible deal imo |

Not sure if we won that trade with Colorado?
They are in the playoffs, our trade pieces look good and young.
Our piece of the trade was traded for 3rd which turned into talking to vesey ror a month
And a guy that's leading us to last place.
I like ror, but I think we lost this trade

So you’re using the absolute worst case scenario in Grigorenko and Fasching as examples?
We could just as easily end up with a really, really good player who’s 5x as cheap as O’Reilly for 3-4 years.
We’re winning very little with these guys. Keep them all |

Not sure if I've seen anything positive out of phil?
Name something, maybe I'm missing?
Soft spoken
Guys admit to giving up and losing the love of the game under his coaching
Worst record in franchise history
11 home wins
Sabres were flat at the beginning of games.
The defense didn't score until 1/4 of the way thru the season, which is his expertise.
Assembled a soft group of easy to play against players
Destroyed the #1 pp
Hired bad assistants
The only thing phil did:
Help get Jack signed, by not being a yeller.
Phil was dealt a bad deck of cards but, any positives? - Boss34
It's hard to pull any positives out of this season anywhere.
I will say when they played his system they actually did pretty well.
But my post was about how you claimed Nashville got better because Phil left. That is literally reaching at straws. I am all for placing blame where it's deserved but your point about Nashville was pretty lazy.
Look at who they added and then tell me you wouldn't expect them to get better.
They scored 25 more goals this season than last and gave up 11 less (Rinne played like a Vezina goaltender this year when last year statistically Saros was better).
But you know that's because Phil left...

RoR is probably a #1 on 2-3 teams and a #2 on most besides the elite teams. I believe he should bring back a very high first round pick (5-10 range) and a young scoring winger/young dman.

I don't buy that losing ruins a player. Look at Hall. We just need more defensemen who are good - jcragcrumple

I just think that O’Reilly will get as good if not better of a return now then what we gave up. Guys we traded aren’t anything amazing.
Ya Colorado made the playoffs and we didn’t. I would say it had more to do with amazing McKinnon, ratanen and Landy over Grigorenko zadorov and Compher.
If we use making the playoffs as the deciding factor did Edmonton “win” their trade because they made the playoffs last year and New Jersey didn’t after trading Hall?

Your suggestion is to trade ror for a player that has a 40-60% chance of being 4th line or worse

I was just thinking, could you imagine how good this team would be if we had kept Kane and keep O’Reilly and Ristolainen.
We literally could be as good as bottom 10 |

I don’t care. We’re last place. O’Reilly is aging. We aren’t winning the cup in the next two years. He still has good value now.

Why do we even need to trade Risto? If we pick #1 we take Dahlin, if we pick outside of #1 we take a winger and then trade ROR for a Dman. Montreal is rumored to be interested in ROR, maybe they'd be willing to part with their 1st + for him. Svech and Bodqvist sounds pretty good. - sskkoo1
If that is the return for RoR I will drive to Buffalo, Pick him up, get him some Timbits and drop him off in Montreal. |

You know what I respect about you stripes, is your ability to convey information in a positive way. There are definitely other intangibles to the press success.
I agree with you, well explained.

Vancouver seams like a great fit for ror.
I would make that move at the draft, especially if we get their early pick and see a defenseman we really want. |

charts like these are tricky to read because the percentages are often different depending on draft tendencies.
Some teams still flat out hate euro picks, thats going to hurt the value of some of their picks.
some teams are still obsessed with size, so instead of a 33.3% at a top 6 forward, they draft lawson crouse or rasmussen |

I’ll just take the top 7-8 pick.
I mean seriously. We are talking about a player who is just an average to slightly above average 2nd liner.
I’ll take my chance at drafting a guy like
Keller
Barzal
Connor
Boeser
Larkin
Ehlers
McAvoy
Werenski
And many others over the past 3 years than just trying to win more fade offs |

This is what I was saying yesterday, making reactionary moves is a bad idea. They should not trade ROR for a 40-60% chance at 4th line, and a 13-40% chance of top 6. That's just horrible asset management |

Right, they should trade him because 7.5 million for 3rd line production away from the power play is turrrible value. |
