Complete bust because he needed a year to develop? (like they said he would out of the draft)

Oh yeah I had to close it out so I could get stuff done

3 in a row I got either Rosen or Mayfield at 12 without having to move up

One I did I took Roquan Smith at 12 and traded down to 29 and took Allen as my QB and got like 3 extra picks out of the deal.

- Stripes77

this site is too unrealistic with trades to be fun for me

i traded down 3 times and got mayfield at 19 and amassed 3 more 2nd round picks

Sure, but horrible depth isn't why we were last.

Nashville, before aquiring Hartman had no player in their bottom 6 above 35 points, and the entire 4th line had under 10 points. Also have a bad 3rd pairing.

There top half of the lineup wins games

- sbroads24

It's a large percentage of the reason. Just like culture, ROR not scoring enough on even strength, Jack being injured, having non-top 4 dmen in the top 4, average to below average goaltending and the inability to pass a puck are all reasons.

McCarron: "I think people get sold too much on big arms (for QBs)..... The game is played with timing and accuracy."

He's not entirely wrong but it also sounds like someone who wants to start...

- Stripes77

It sounds like someone who has common sense.

Did you know that EJ Manual and Cardale Jones have stronger arms than Carson Wentz?

And he should want to start. Everyone on that team should want to start. Everyone in professional sports should want to start.

You do know there were over 80 selections moved with trades done at the draft last year right? 37 trades

It is a very very trade heavy time with picks

Who has bigger hands though? Ej had really big hands. Great for cold weather home playoff games.

I think he can surprise some people. Not saying he is going to be a stud, but a winner with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove, could end up being a nice bridge QB.

On the flip-side, if teams know your arm isnt strong, they aren't covering the entire field. It limits guys

Brady doesn't have a strong arm
Peyton didn't have a strong arm

It's all about reading defenses and putting the ball where it needs to be when it needs to be there.

Marino, Elway, Farve had cannons but they knew how to use it!

Brady and Peyton both maxed about about 45-55 yards. Brady has more zip on his balls ( ) Accuracy and decision making rule the QB world.

That actually scares me.
Footballs can be hard to grip in the cold weather.

I'd draft your son , lots more potential

Sure, but those are two of the most accurate QB's of all time.

Not McCarron. And I'd argue Brady's arm was never considered weak.

He threw well down the field his whole career

He was when he was drafted as well:

Notes: Baseball catcher and football quarterback in high school who was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 18th round of the June 1995 baseball draft. Opted for football and redshirted at Michigan in '95. Saw limited action in '96 and '97 and started the past two years. Completed 3 of 5 passes for 26 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in '96, 12-15-103-0-0 in '97, 214-350-2,636-15-12 in '98 and 180-295-2,216-16-6 in '99, when he often shared time with super sophomore Drew Henson. Went all the way against Alabama in the Orange Bowl and completed 34-46-369-4. Unlike many Michigan quarterbacks, Brady is a pocket-type passer who plays best in a dropback-type system.

Tom Brady Positives: Good height to see the field. Very poised and composed. Smart and alert. Can read coverages. Good accuracy and touch. Produces in big spots and in big games. Has some Brian Griese in him and is a gamer. Generally plays within himself. Team leader.

Negatives: Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the '99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength. Can get pushed down more easily than you'd like. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can't drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral. System-type player who can get exposed if he must ad-lib and do things on his own.

Summary: Is not what you're looking for in terms of physical stature, strength, arm strength and mobility, but he has the intangibles and production and showed great Griese-like improvement as a senior. Could make it in the right system but will not be for everyone

Coming out of the draft.... testing. Yearly "rankings" (bleacher report and the likes). He gets good velocity on the ball and has that "zip" that you want but he does not have a strong arm. 45-55 yards. He not a Russell or Allen 80 yard guy. But again... none of that matters. Accuracy and decision making is the bread and butter.

That's different than weak.

I also don't think Manning had a "weak arm" until his late 30's.

Chad Pennington and Ryan Fitzpatrick had what I would call "weak" arms for starting QB's

I would hold onto him though for another year or 2

https://www.cbssports.com...rd-bomb-to-brandin-cooks/

uring the third quarter of the Patriots opener at Gillette Stadium, Brady threw a bomb to Brandin Cooks that traveled more than 55 yards in the air.

That's at 40 years old

Sounds like coming from someone without a strong arm!!
