Elliott walked as a UFA
And I’m not sure the exact breakdown,
but he was splitting time with Allen at that point
He was their starter in the playoffs that year though if i remember right - jdfitz77
what about out of ottawa? |

They almost have to go that route. If they qualify him, he might accept, and that's a risk we can't take. - Lunaion
Seeing how his market value is basically league min for a back up id say he'd take it and run. |

The acquiring team would have to qualify him at 4 million. They'd probably rather keep their pick and just offer him a 1/1 deal or something like that - Sabresfan-365
Yeah, good point
Unless a team actually likes him & thinks he was just stuck in a bad situation here
I’d say it’s possible a team still could see him as a possible starter
I might be reaching,
but Philly did just trade for Marazek
And we have seen (especially) with goalies,
that the situation around them does dictate their effectiveness |

Your going to be sad when he's elite ...
But there's zero chance at Sam so back to Rosen , Mayfield or bust - gerbe75pts
I think Darnold could end up being good,
even very good
But between his awkward throwing motion, and regression last year (esp turnovers)...
I’m just not sold on him enough to give up all the picks it would take to move up for him |

According to @russiahockey, Barrie Colts have refused to let Andrei Svechnikov play at the U18 WJC due to upper body injury. Svechnikov himself stated that he is ready to play, so letters to IIHF and Hockey Canada have been sent in order to resolve this situation.

This may be dense on my part but why do they care? He has in all likelihood played his last game as a member of the colts. |

Yeah I saw that the other day also. Don't see how Barrie can refuse to let him play. It should be the players choice now that the league year is over. He's played his last game in a Colts jersey regardless. |

would an NHL team risk pressuring them into doing this if they thought Svechnikov was actually at risk of doing serious damage to himself? |

Once again, how does trading Risto make this team better? it does not. Why some can't see it is beyond me. - SABRES 89
This board is whacked tbh as apparently given the comments, most are ok with players doing what they want....or, you don’t believe what reporters who watch games, and practices see and report.
Here’s the conundrum I see...
-Sabres Coach and GM constantly refer to certain players who don’t play the system as a major problem.
-GM goes out of his way to cite it as a major issue in his end of season presser.
-During the season, both the Coach and the Players have refered to it as a major issue; many, many times.
-Several times this season, a couple of posters mentioned what I think many of us have been wondering...who are these players who refuse to play the system...name names!
-Finally, we have a name pop up from Reporters...
-Golden Boy is named
Holy poop, it can’t be true...he pots 40 points a year and plays 29 min a night ... Past two coaches suck.
Guys, really?
Hey, let’s just let everyone play their own system..or, what they want.
If so, let’s bring back Teddy!!!
Opps, forgot, Teddy doesn’t have a system.
Lol, you guys are funny, peretty, pretty funny.
Can somebody explain why Risto is being rumored to go? |

Maybe, just freaking maybe, that part of the reason we are in last place, is Ristolainen doing his own thing for 27 min a night. Or O’Reilly not being a threat for the 20 min a night he plays. Or just our team in general not having enough speed and talent in the top 6.
I seriously cannot believe you people don’t want this thing gutted outside of Eichel and a few of the rookies. It’s so, so, so bad and boring hockey - sbroads24
Do you realize how much like Murray you sound?
"This team isn't good enough. I know! instead of waiting patiently for picks and prospects to start paying off I'll try and speed it up!"
The only thing that's different is the method. Still the same line of thinking. |

This isn't at all what I am saying. At all. Trying to add to Oreilly would be speeding it up. I want him gone for younger assets with the potential to make real impacts, before he becomes untradable or our 3rd center in 2 years.

Let's say for the sake of argument we win the lottery, we won't, but let's say we do and get Dahlin. That means we have 1 proven defenseman, 1 phenom that will almost certainly will be, and 3 maybe, maybe not. None of which are currently projected to be top pair guys, and a bunch of warm bodies. Why in God's name would you SUBTRACT from that? And no, it's not addition by subtraction. If say, in the middle of next year Dahlin, Guhle, Nelson and McCabe all step up big time, maybe Risto becomes redundant or at the very least able to be moved without putting a/another crater in your D-corps.
But you don't make that move until you know you can live without him and that time is definitely not now.

Better than finishing 25th and resigning lehner - TheHank
Lehner was kept to secure last place.
Chad was brought back to secure last place.
Ullmark was kept in Rochester to secure last place

For the people who claim O'Reilly was put with garbage. His most common linemates this year
Scandella 522 min together
Ristolainen 500 min together
Reinhart 490 minutes together
Okposo 408 minutes together
Pouliot 334 min together
Kane 283 min together.
Literally, our best D man, best 2 wingers this year. Yet none of them besides Kane produced 5 on 5.
Weird. |

The only problem is the fan base.
Can you imagine the uproar if they start the 1st half of the season at say 15-25-2
It will implode I assure you.
So, how much time do they really have? They already blew through 3 years of Jack...Christ, at this rate he’ll be 27 before sniffing the playoffs.
Gotta be a mix of patience and smart aggressiveness. |

It is though, instead of letting it run its course, you want to tamper with it to try and make it better, faster. Getting rid of the best players for ifs and maybes is a huge gamble, kind of like getting rid of a poopload of ifs and maybes for those guys in the first place. Because if those ifs and maybes don't pan out, you're now years behind where you were, and yes, it can always get worse. If you would've been good in, say 3 years by playing the waiting game, but now all your gambles fell through and it's already 3 years later, you'd have to wait another 3 years, at least, for the next group to start to show results. |

What makes you think it would? It hasn't yet. People grumble to grumble, but the idiots keep renewing their season tickets.
That is literally the only thing that will get their attention. |

So you subscribe to the everybody do your thing strategy?
You must.
You subtract the bad apples, as pretty as they are..and move forward with a team that plays it’s game, save none.
Keeping a bad apple puts the new ones at risk.
Let’s say you have an employee who just does WtF he wants...you then hire a new kid and want him to follow the work processes that have been developed because they are proven to be successful.
Would you keep the malcontent...and even use him to train you new golden boy...or maybe get rid of him and get a players who follows the process and can’t support the new golden boy.
Ohh, btw, Las Vegas Knights say hello...everyone buying into the system works.
What more evidence do you need?
