2018 NFL Mock Draft: Patriots land Sam Darnold in wild draft-day trade with Browns
https://www.cbssports.com...ft-day-trade-with-browns/ - gerbe75pts
That is a nightmare scenario, waiting at 12 to get the 5th best QB who probably should be a round 2 pick honestly.
Go up and get their man, I don’t believe the Giants take a QB there, I think Chubb is their guy.
A smart move would be trying to move down into one of Broncos, Colts or Bucs spots...then trying to get into 2. Unless they like Rosen. If they trade with Giants as the final spot they are trying to get to, then they may be best served by getting into 5 first, as that makes the Giants comfortable that on3 of Barkley or Chubb is still there. |

My QB board:
Baker Friggin Mayfield (of course)
Josh Rosen
Sam Darnold
Jackson
Allen
If Cleveland does indeed take Allen 1st, I will laugh out loud...dream scenario for Bills.
Taking a RB 2nd overall, in the league as it is now to me is just a poor decision. Barkley may be superhuman, but will he be that much better than the 2nd RB selected? Will the gap be that much in production to justify that high of a pick? We shall see.
I see Giants taking Chubb.
So that leaves the field wide open for the Jets...they are the wild card. Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield.
Do the Browns then move in and take Barkley at 4, eh...well they got their QB so I could see it ... still think it is too army for. RB...but that’s why I’m not a GM.
Bills move up with trade to Bronco’s, getting one of Darnold/Mayfield/Rosen whoever is left.
Unless...Miami, or Pats move up in trade at 4 with Cleveland....Miami has the inside track here in my mind...do they take Mayfield.
(Going to be hard converting to a Finns fan)

If that offer is on the table, I would give 12, 22 and 2019 1st. |

Agreed
I don't see the Browns taking 23 and 31 and a 2019 pick for 4 though
Again 12, and 22 alone have more value than 23, 31 and say 28 next year |

If I could somehow, someway hold onto 2019 1st, that would be my only issue.
That could be a top 7 pick. |

After seeing schedule, I would be really worried about giving up our 1st next year.
5 of the first 7 on the road |

At this point, I am sick of playing scared. If you like a guy, go get him, and give up what it takes. And for the first time in probably over a decade, I trust the decision makers if they identify a guy. Any of the previous regimes, I would assume that any decision they make is the wrong one. |

Someone made a good point to me -
Think of the last good 1st round pick the Bills made the last 20 years, we came up with Lynch being the overall best player.
Would you not give up a potential Lynch (2019 1st) to get your franchise QB? |

Sadly, the blue-collar mentality of this fanbase makes an alarming number of people say "no". |

Lynch went 9th over all? Imagine everything doesn't go our way like last season, were 6-10. There's a chance we are worse this year.
Houston has to be angry about giving up the 4th.
What if desuan Watson isn't as healthy or as good as he appeared last season |

AGREED (yes in caps)!
I have been very consistent with that philosophy in this draft with the amount of pics they have to do it.
And agree as far as Beaner and the staff go, making a ton of good moves in my eyes.
Just wish there was a away to retain that 2019 1st.
Shady! Include him, throw in Shaw as well. |

Do they really care knowing they have Watson though? That’s the point I’m making.
If we get Darnold, and he’s legit, no one will care, it’s what we’ve been waiting on for 25 years (Franchise QB)

I agree with you, if Watson comes back and has a career similar to his 7 game sample size.
But there is a reason Watson went 12th? And not higher
Defenses will get some game tape too
Houston could have more value at 4 this year |
