Not that a Penguin penalty call against them would have mattered with 30 seconds remaining on their 8th goal of the game, which was into an empty net for an 8-5 lead.
But there was yet another, "clear if in a fog", missed Penguin penalty call, in this being a crosscheck, administered seconds earlier against a Flyer prior to the 8th goal.

Flyers fan throwing full beer cans...

They should have thrown them at Gudas. His defensive mishaps late in the 2nd period turned what looked like it could be a 4-2 Flyers lead after two, immediately into the Penguins 3rd goal, followed by another mistake of his in the final minute, to tie the score at 4-4 instead going into the 3rd, when the roof completely caved in on them.

As of last evening, the debate will most likely officially begin as to whether or not the Rangers should re-sign Grabner as a free agent in July. That could even be for possibly a little less overall in money and term than what they & some teams may have expected his cost would initially be, based on his lackluster play with the Devils.

Couturier played with torn MCL. Said it won’t need surgery but in regular season would have been four week recovery.

Heck of a gutsy performance. Refs missed two calls late in the game. The trip by Letang that led to Guentzel’s third of the game and the cross check by Schultz, each of which was on Couturier.

Letang was playing the puck and hit the puck first...only reason I could see that not being a penalty. It was a trip no doubt and the speed of Coots falling made it look really bad...but Letang did hit the puck first.

No. New team, new coaching staff. He most likely won't be utilized the same way as under AV. I appreciate what he accomplished here, but I highly doubt he repeats it. The argument of needing veterans would be the only reason I see. However between Kreids, Zucc, Zib, Shatty, Staal, Hank, and could argue a couple of other guys, maybe even Kovy, I think there's enough to have a decent mix. This coming season is probably going to be a show me year for not only the kids but to see if the veteran guys can rise up and be actual leaders.

Why I thought one might have been called. Tough call, one that could have gone either way. But the Schultz cross-check looked like a no-doubt penalty.

Couturiers MCL injury was likely up to a Grade Two (mid level) one at worst in nature, which involves a combo knee sprain & partial tear, which would heal by itself with rest & no need for surgery. But to return heroically immediately in a contact sport, he was likely aided by some cortisone shot, if not otherwise treated by some platelet rich plasma type of injection or two thus far, which can help reduce pain & speed the healing process of injuries, including those ligament related in nature.
Lundqvist recently disclosed he will be treated during this off season in part in that latter's means for his own MCL injury he played with throughout this past season, after originally suffering it while playing for Sweden at last year's World Championships. Hank said it was aggravated after a player collided into him during a game in late October or early November.
Had either's MCL injury been of the most serious in magnitude, they would not have been even able to walk, putting them at a much higher risk until healed, of suffering easily a leg or knee injury of greater severity. That includes all knee ligament ones alone, or in any multi combination, with an ACL one requiring the longest in a 7 to 9 months recovery after reconstructive surgery, with no guarantee of a return to one's prior abilities of any kind.

What could Letang have done? If he hadn't played the puck & let Coûts get past him, we would all be saying how poor he played it?

He hit the puck away from Coûts & Couts jumped (they usually dive ), higher than the Olympic champion high jumper. He defended well & the Pens scored in my opinion. 1 thing was strange though as I didn't see or listen to the game, was what was Letang doing down that deep & where were the Flyers D men?

Aussie - he did make contact with the puck first but then got both skates. Why I responded to a comment later on saying I understood why a call might not have been made and also, why one maybe could have since he made contact with both skates, tripping Couturier.

Letang had just come of the box after a penalty and went to the offensive zone, forechecking. Why he was that deep and able to get to Couturier near the boards. Philly went from a 5-on-3 for 1:28 and a 5-on-4 for :32 with a chance to tie tinallowing a pair of goals in 10 seconds and lights out.

I think it depends on length of deal and dollars. Grabner definitely had a comfort zone on NY, possibly due to style of play and somewhat to usage. As a third liner with his speed and penalty killing ability, I would have no issue having him back, especially since his value and price point likely declined with his struggles in NJ.

I'm just unsure how he could have played that without the contact to Coûts? He was aggressive & it paid dividends. I'm more concerned about the Hags hit.

Karmas a female dog for Geno. Do something stupid & it bites his arse. He is an emotional soul though.

I was referring to the contact made on Hags. But it was Giroux so it's all ok.

The Giroux check I still dont think he hit Hags in the head. Hit him right in the chest and his face came down into Giroux's shoulder. The Letang one it was a trip with a Couts dive. Ref could of either took them both off or just let them play.
