Greener won't give him any overtime minutes though. He's old school, you've gotta earn it

Sedins, Gagner and Eriksson had some terrible 5v5 games and yet they got 3v3 shifts..they didn't earn poop

Only sense i can see of a reward was it was on his improvement throughout the season. When or if JV can turn into a puck hound it would be something to see with his speed & size to hit. Puck retrieval is everything & one of the hardest of all tbings to do.
- Nighthawk

Yeah, but the Canucks aren't exactly loaded with guys who can skate like him. He should've been in the 3v3 rotation since day 1. Cut his 5v5 time if he's struggling to do the dirty work during regulation time.

Put the youth in a position to succeed is my point.

Yeah, his lack of a decent shot is being exposed at the NHL level.
- Nucker101

For a center he doesn't need a wicked shot, Peter Forsberg had a terrible self admitted shot, he was still a HHOF player. Bennett needs to find a way to make plays and in the process make others around him better.

When you can sell me on puck possession or puck retrieval then I 100% agree. Atm JV is neither of those.

Gagner especially was garbage for most of the season, yet he was still given more 3v3 shifts than Virtanen.

Forsberg was a beast like no other. He was 200’ poetry & seemed to will himself to levels few ever could.

Forsberg was a (frank)ing animal

I still remember watching the old school replayed games on NHL Network during the original lockout. I was amazed at how much of a bull Forsberg was in every playoff game.

OT is all about speed, he's the fastest player on the team. Playing the Sedins and Gagner ahead of him is idiotic.

What a steal of a trade that was for that organization.

The point was Bennett doesn't need a wicked shot to be a good NHL center, I don't think he knows what he is yet. In junior he could be whatever he wanted to be, at this level he has to acknowledge he's gotta adjust his game to be a center.

I think it worked out well for both organizations, they both received great great players. Both ended up in the HHOF. Yes Forsberg won two Cups but that's the product of a team. One of those he didn't even play in the playoffs because of injury.

I do think he'll getter, just like Virtanen.

Some of these guys just get straight up overhyped, especially CHL prospects.

Like you said earlier, he would be worth taking a flier on. Not sure if the environment is right in Calgary. Plus we need another centre.

Agree, just like our Lind and Gadjovich prospects, which I really like but literally every team has these kinds of kids. Which is why I disagree that Benning is a great drafter, he's yet to prove that in his four drafts here.

Gadjovich's skating has to get a lot better to play in today's game. I'm still not as high on him as some Canuck fans because of his skating.

Speed yes but who gets the puck for him?
Leaving it up to 2 others only is tough to do with so much ice out there someone has to do do all the dirty work.
