Leafs are doing just fine without his stone hands and non existent production.
Cap crunch is coming and the Leafs will need entry level players to fill in those spots. - senstroll
31 is the new 21 in the NHL, so Komarov is actually younger than Johnsson..
I don't know..
I'm just trying to understand why Max thinks Komarov is better than Johnsson..
facts tell a different story.
leo is 31y young.
he was 7th in TOI of all forwards on the team during regular season. (15:47 ATOI)
(guess who was 3rd by the way).
he's missed 8 games this regular season.
missed 0 games last season.
now he missed 4 games in playoffs.
hardly an 'injured player'.
he's a 3rd line player that is responsible defensively (after hyman and matthews probably best in that on team still) and is very valuable on PK.
for 2mln or less, Leafs will take that any day. - MaximusAurelius
He played majority of the season on Kadri's wing. That's why his time on the ice is so high (along with PK time, in which Matthews and some others don't ever play).
Brown is better, can skate, equally responsible defensively, has better finish and only makes 2.1 million.
Komarov can be replaced easily. EASILY as shown by Johnsson.

Komarov won't be the only player gone this off season, nor will Bozak
Bozak goes if Leafs sign Tavares.
If not, he'll stay.
And I think Leafs will sign Komarov as 13th FW if he takes a contract under 2mln/year.
It is likely a player like Brown/Kapanen/Johnsson will be part of a trade for the much needed topline D. - MaximusAurelius
If you are paying a 13th forward 2 million then you've got problems. We already have that in Martin for 2.5 million. He could be traded too unless they want him as the 13th forward.
Komarov will be paid closer to 3 million by another team.

in that case he'll probably be gone, unless he takes a 1y contract with leafs at that price.
Martin might indeed be gone.
(btw - Martin with 4-5 minutes more a night on another team will do much better; look at Plekanec with more icetime).
