Team Canada knows that with the right top 10 the rest of their team is kind of irrelevant.
Edit: how much did ROR actually play for Canada? - Sabresfan-365
Does it matter?
EVERYONE saw how good he was when he didn’t have to play with scrubs all around him
It really is that simple |

I really do get it
But these guys have both been pretty decent - good, with CRAP all around them
If ROR is just a PP specialist,
imagine how good his other numbers would look if he had good wingers & didn’t take every defensive zone faceoff for us - jdfitz77
But then imagine how good the TEAM would be if they had someone in that role who already moved the needle at all game states before the addition of those wingers? |

Or it's more of saying hey Risto I know we said we were going to cut your ice time a bit to keep you fresh but.........., it's down to you and Marco to play with 4 AHLers this year so we need you to play 30 mins and do everything back there.
Typical Buffalo fan: Run player x out of town and watch him flourish elsewhere. We as a community of fans are famous for this and it needs to end here. - dadeadhead

That's twice now lol
I said may have to trade him to get someone for the top pair. That is not running him out of town
You and your community can do your thing. I'm not from Buffalo so this whole buffaluck, run them out of town, need to work hard and anti russian feel that runs through the local community is pretty much your thing (lamp posts seem pretty chill though). - Sabresfan-365
I know it's hard to understand but not everything is solely about you when someone quotes you.
And if you're a fan of the Sabres you are part of the community. Matters naught whether you're from here or not. The fans of the Sabres organization as a community are well known for running guys out of town. |

I'm not ignoring it. I just don't put as much emphasis on power play scoring as you do.
Im 99% certain Sam can still be a good 50 point player without ROR. - Sabresfan-365
I don’t disagree, but that’s not my point
He sucked on the wing with Jack & then flourished with ROR
Idk what the reasons were,
but I’m not chalking it up to coincidence either
And it deserves to be noted,
especially when u guys keep saying that “ROR doesn’t make guys around him better”
This is quite obviously an instance where he did |

It entirely matters since i personally feel none of that including this running someone out of town BS.
I merely suggested that to land a top pair guy, a d-man of value like Risto might have to be in the deal. |

I actually don't think he sucked nearly as much as other did. Even when he was centring griffith and girgensons, his underlying numbers were good but those 2 wingers obviously hurt his numbers.
He said it himself, around new years he decided to change his game back to what he's comfortable with. Im not convinced ROR had anything to do with it, more that Sam did it himself (which is great). |

It’s not that i emphasize PP scoring,
I just don’t discount it like u do
Imagine ROR put in a better position (“role”) where he can focus more on offense when playing 5v5
And with some better wingers
Then we are likely looking at numbers across the board that u guys would be a lot happier with |

Wow (frank) you NHL !!!!!!!
They have (frank)ed up the draft lottery even more
- first 10 packs 8 o’clock
- first intermission after the first period
- then they do the top five
Haha what a joke - gerbe75pts
The first intermission is usually after the first period, yes. |

Again it's not all about you.
There are many here that just want him gone.
And it doesn't matter, if you're a fan you're part of the community. Guilt by association.

My thinking all along hasn't changed: if they get Dahlin, 1-2 core pieces will move. Top 3, and 1 core piece will probably move. If they pick 4th, a core piece will be moved for the right price.
Pegula's letter didn't sound like a guy who wants to burn it down, he sounded like he's done losing - jcragcrumple
Botts has had his “full year to evaluate” like he said he’d need
Changes he will/won’t choose to do should make for a pretty interesting summer |

He didn't produce with the born again Reinhart at 5v5 either - Sabresfan-365
Before his “born again” 2nd half
(which apparently had nothing to do with playing with ROR)
Most ppl on here thought Sam sucked & wanted him traded |

I dont just want him gone for the sake of it. I've provided several reasons/opinions on why I think it would be best for the team moving forward. That is not the same thing as running him out of town. The fact that you can't see the difference speaks volumes. |

Well Lmk when we can trade ROR for Malkin and then I’m with ya
Or if Mittelstadt is that guy,
then trade ROR for a winger or defenseman who “moves the needle”
Hey, I’m cool with that
This trade him for Cap relief (that we don’t need) and mediocre picks/prospects (that likely won’t be better than role players) is where i have the issue |

our definition of mediocre picks/prospects is the breaking point. Ill just leave it there. |

While i can’t discount this,
there’s no proof either
Maybe it’s not fair for me to say ROR had an affect?
I think it was at least partly a factor though |

What speaks volumes I do get you don’t want him gone for the sake of it. Again the running him out of town wasn’t about you. It was the community as a whole. That’s the part you don’t get. |

That never happens in Buffalo, with Jack and Casey as centers. RoR becomes their defensive center by necessity. |

And then we'll be back at square one again.
Really, the fact we're willing to keep making the same mistakes over and over again is infuriating. Fine, trade him for a top 10 pick. When that pick busts out and we can't trade em for a bag of pucks like our boy Nylander...what then?
We'll blame it on the coach, yeah forgot. - RhinoFan
Curtis Lazar was a mega bust 3 years into his career and still netted a 2nd and two prospects.
A top 10 pick will hold value, even if he doesn't pan out in the first few years.
What you are doing now is trading someone your going to want to trade down the road anyways |
