While this is true, they also have holes to fill.

12 puts you in a position to get the tackle from Notre Dame to replace Thomas or gives you the ammo to move up a few spots to take him plus fills other needs.

They could walk out of the 1st rd with the franchise QB and tackle for the next 12 years.

Yet he has done it.

Dude is going to give you 70+ and 55+ a year and has done it 6 out of the last 7 seasons (the 7th being the shortened season and he held out). He'll put up those numbers for the next 5 years.

Not a guy you build around but a very nice 2c that eats up mins.

Spent some time w/ #Bills GM Brandon Beane yesterday. Get the sense trading before #NFLDraft starts is super unlikely. He genuinely has no idea what #Browns are going to do at no. 1 - and that affects everything.

He has done 70+ and 55 + each of the past 5 years(with 3 of them 70+ and 60+) and is only 27, I see nothing to state he can't do it another 5 years.

In fact I saw on NFL Network yesterday they has Rosen going to the Dolphins and Allen to the Bills without making trades.

The way I've heard it is if the Browns take Darnold, the Bills and Giants trade.

If the Browns take anyone else but Darnold at 1, the Giants are taking Darnold.

I just spoke to Bills GM Brandon Beane. Key takeaways:

- He absolutely believes they have ammo to get to No. 2 without giving up much in future years — but might not need to go that high to get their guy.

- He does covet at least one QB as a franchise guy.

- This could be fun.

Bills GM Brandon Beane made clear to me he doesn’t plan to get robbed by anyone — especially the Giants at No. 2 overall — to move that high.

His leverage for avoiding that seems simple: He could still potentially get his QB with a move to No. 4 or No. 6.
