Bettman Model. Seattle the same.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity, perhaps some of those guys were skilled players with great wheels but never got a chance in the NHL because of there's only so many top six positions available around the league. Some forward thinking by McPhee maybe?

I think Vegas got extremely lucky some GM's (Dale Talon) protected too many youthful players when they should've been protecting guys like Marchessault.

Haula was another excellent pick up, as well as Karlsson, but who could've predicted his outburst.

Perfect storm, speed, coaching, luck, all the above?

Seven different guys scored so far, they get production from everywhere!

I was just thinking that.
No superstar.
A true team.

They just seem to swarm the other team and make it look so easy to exit their own zone and the other team looks like they're playing in quicksand.
It seems like a real new approach to hockey is occurring.

There's more than one way to win a Stanley Cup, a proven fact, at the end of the day you need great players and great goaltending. Speed certainly seems to be the flavor of the day.

So it's the Vegas model now... "hope you are paying attention Benning".

Benning is way ahead of the curve. He’s been collecting castoffs since day 1

“It has been my experience that if you go for position, you make mistakes,” said Benning. “You want to take the best available when you pick and that will be our strategy. Positional needs? We can find other ways to find those type of players.”

Noah Dobson

(D, Acadie-Bathurst, QMHL)

Vitals: 6-3, 180 lbs.; GP: 67, G: 17, A: 52, Pts: 69

Scout says: “Reminds me of (Colton) Parayko of the Blues without the massive slapshot. He has the best percentage to be a No. 3 D-man in the NHL, but also has the potential for a No. 2 because of his upside.”

Evan Bouchard

(D, London, OHL)

Vitals: 6-2, 193 lbs.; GP: 67, G: 25, A: 62, Pts. 84

Scout says: “He’s more consistent than Boqvist, particularly in defensive habits and awareness. (Coach) Dale Hunter is demanding and doesn’t care how good you are offensively — that’s a bonus — he wants his defencemen to play properly. You’re not going to survive in the NHL as a top three defenceman without being consistent.”

Quinn Hughes

(D, University of Michigan, NCAA)

Vitals: 5-10, 175 lbs.; GP: 37, G: 5, A: 24, Pts. 29

Scout says: “Exceptional skater and he’s a transporter. He can rush the puck and drive the play out of the defensive zone. That’s rare. Most defencemen are puck movers and distributors.”

Adam Boqvist

(D, Brynas IF, Sweden, J20)

Vitals: 5-11, 170 lbs.; GP: 25, G: 14, A: 10, Pts. 24

Scout says: “Can skate out of problems and retrieve pucks quickly and turn and make an excellent first pass that can disrupt forecheck. Concern is his defensive awareness and habits. Inconsistent with gap control, taking right angles, keeping head on swivel, having active stick and keeping his feet moving.”

I’m very intrigued by Hughes because of his skating ability. Size as always becomes a major issue for me. I need to watch more tape before I decide but he is up to there for me.
