i am still confused, do you mean:
1. keep it out of our net
2. put it in the other teams net
3. transfer it to a teammate successfully
4. take it away from the opposing team
5. carry it up the ice
6. break it out of our zone
7. not trip over it
just to name a few - IndianaSabresFan
3, 5,6 probably. Maybe 2, can't promise #7 |

Seriously, Brandon Beane and McDermott mentioned the weather here as a reason they picked Allen.
What a joke. |

To be fair, I did see a quote where he said that one thing in Allen's favor is that he was used to playing in the conditions. I hate when people talk about throwing into the wind and stuff like that but I think there is a bit of a point with this. He isn't justifying it (at least not in this quote) - I took it as one less thing that you need to worry about. |

Expected nhl points metrics are always a little iffy and the site link to the explanation behind the formula is conveniently missing so take this for what it's worth but Pilut is in some good company here. - Sabresfan-365

It should have never been a worry in the first place though.
What great QB has there been in NFL history, that needed to be traded/cut/whatever because he just couldn't handle the conditions he played in?
If he's good, he will be good.

we passed on a franchise quarterback for a quarterback that could be a franchise quarterback with higher upside

Troy Aikman was an absolutely brutal cold weather qb and did not try to hide this fact. It's a small plus knowing that the guy can handle it. |

I have no idea if any of them are franchise quarterbacks, to be fair, and I'm not sure anybody does, at least with any degree of certainty.

Some Good News.
Sabres sign a 22-year-old defenseman whi has played five seasons in the Swedish Elite League. He had a breakout season with HV71 Jonkoping scoring eight goals and 30 assists for 38 points in 52 games. Pilut had never had more than 12 points in any other season.
Pilut is listed at 5’10, 183. He won the Salming Trophy last season as the best native-born defenseman in the league. |

And that stopped him from being in the HOF or winning SB's?
We need a guy who can actually get us to important cold weather games.
I have no idea if Allen will be good, but they need to stop saying incredibly dumb things. |

Aikman also had a hof rb and wr and the best offensive line in football...the defense was top notch as well...
that said, i'm of the opinion that we won't see allen for a while unless the McCarron experiment blows up...I have no problem keeping him on the sidelines learning the nfl game and working on his techniques for a year |

The good thing about Pilut is he projects to be better at 3 years younger. It also means you can take a bit more time to develop his game if perhaps he's not totally ready.
Maybe he sees time in Rochester until the deadline, say scandella gets moved and that opens a spot for him once Guhle has shown he can move from 3rd to 2nd pair. |

His puck control is so good, if that carries over to the NHL he'll be money.

My point is that their point makes 0 sense.
What does "handling the conditions" mean?
He isn't accurate when the conditions aren't tough.
What are we getting in those conditions that makes a damn difference.
Just come out and say that you love his arm and hope you can work out his kinks |

curious, why would they move a second-pairing d-man with a team-friendly $4 million cap-hit who's signed through 19-20? |

that's a succinct way of putting it...
they should also come out and say they love his size and his running ability |

How the hell do you know Rosen is a franchise QB ? you have no clue. He could be a scrub like the others before him, nobody knows. |
