Even with all the f-ups that GMTM did, the Sabres would be a much better team in 18/19 if he had drafted Sergachev or McAvoy in 2016 vs A Nylander. It's easy to second guess after the fact but the Sabres #1 weakness in 2016 was defence. And it remains that today. Imagine a core of Jack, Sergachev/McAvoy, Mitts and our 2018 pick moving forward (whoever it turns out to be)? Throw in Risto and that would be a really good core for the next 10-years.

I know that generally u should go bpa,
but when u have such a severe need at a particular spot it’s ok to choose for position if the prospects are close
And it’s not like Nylander was in the tier above Sergachev &/or Chychrun
Hopefully Nylander can still work out & be a good player for us

Probably because the liked him, but it was the 7th round they could've traded up to get him if they liked him that much.

I watched a ton of Clemson, I think Ray-Ray could be a decent return man/utility player.
