I think he's assuming a few of these moves will be made with some degree of certainty and that they will make us better.
For example, we know some spots will be filled with Mittelstadt and Guhle here full time, spots that were otherwise occupied by dead weight.

If I had to bet $$, we don’t make it, but I won’t rule it out with adding an elite type D man in Dahlin, Mittelstadt, Guhle, and a few decent moves by Botterill.

agreed, im just saying it puts you in a position to at least flirt with the idea.
The rest comes down to who's already there, who botterill can add and whether they get stable goaltending.
The last one especially, goaltending let them down a lot and looks like there will be 2 new guys in net.

We have some talent coming but it’s going to take some time in the nhl... but i’ll Take it. And we might be lucky bastards but we have suffered more than our fair share. ...... I like the moves our gm is making hopefully he can find a finisher for jacks line.
