I just find this funny how upset you get over this. you make a ridiculous statement about what you want in a clearly lopsided trade with no logic or intelligence behind it, and then I do the same to mock you and I'm the one who is stupid.

Without even getting into sekeras value which isn’t nil by any stretch before his injury ->asolid 2nd pairing dman in 2017 by every metric available. which incidentally is all risto really is at this point in his career as well. but I’ll grant seks is certainly a question mark now because of his injury at his age. But even with that said, a bounce back is entirely within the realm of possibility. Even likely if he’s healthy.

Either way, the real crux is that adding those dollars is the only way we could make the deal work. Whether u like it or not. Someone mentioned risto, I came up with the type of scenario and assets we’d have to use to get it done from our side.
Or at the very least- the first +something middling only if we had something in place to jettison a significant contract elsewhere

And again, if risto is available at his age, theres absolutely alarm bells which could also effect his perceived value

Risto is 7 years younger then him and a far better D-man who plays in a bunch of different scenarios. the two contracts between Risto and Sekera are almost identical in term with Sekera costing an extra 100K, so your logic of a salary dump makes no sense whatsoever. Sekera is on the wrong side of 30 and like you said has injury history I should know he use to be a Sabre and we got rid of him because he is nothing special and your boy Peter C does what he does best and sign old players to long term deals to (frank) his team going forward. Sekera is a Top 6 D max. Also the only place where Ive seen anyone talk about Risto being available is a blogger for the Oilers(SHOCKER) Do you honestly think that a team would trade its current best defenseman on the team that lacks defensive depth just because theyre drafting a defense. Anyways I looked at it and on paper your right Benning does look as good as Risto until you actually break down those numbers.

The stats comparing the two, you have Benning having to play 10 more games to equal the amount of minutes of Risto. So to start Risto is playing way more minutes a night leading to more fatigue during the game where these stats are getting measured. Also hes a top pairing defense which means hes going up against every other teams best payers day in day out. Benning is only a top 4 so hes not facing the top lines as much as Risto is. Taking nothing away for Benning because for his postion and role hes great. But you cant just break them down based on of zone entries and possession numbers unless they are playing in the same role. You cant compare a 3rd line center to a 1st, same thing applies on the backend.

So because you overlook simple logic for a bar graph with no way of being accurate you now get this
