is this team better next year with casey on jacks wing
ror as second line center
e-rod as 3rd line center
I firmly believe that after getting dahlin, it is
give ror 2 speedy wingers
give e-rod 1 speedy winger
and let's go
casey-eichel-skunk
nylander-ror-baptiste
bailey-e-rod-o regan
wilson-matt ellis-pommer
dahlin-risto
scandella-carlson
mccabe-nelson
put guhle in rochester for 1 more year
put moulson, bogo, okposo on ltir
expose beaulieu to waivers if you cant move him
same for larsson and girgens
LETS GO!!! - homiedclown
Why do you keep putting him on the wing when the sabres said he's going to be the center?
I'm not against it but I don't see it with the success he had coming up here

“He’s the McDavid of defensemen” - Craig Button
I mean I would take your opinion seriously if you didn’t try and tell me Anaheim was going to beat San Jose - sbroads24
Fair enough. After that series it is clear they are too old. |

He is a generational Talent that's a fact... - gerbe75pts
Define generational. You guys are fond of calling Eichel generational so the term has clearly been muddied around here.

Man . Buffalo's good fortune in winning the Dahlin sweepstakes has put some over the edge . Folks need to remember he is going to be a Rookie next year . Don't drive the kid out of town before he gets there. Be reasonable and temper your expectations. Willing to trade everyone already is a little silly . I hope Botterill does not try to accelerate the rebuild like Murray did. You guys know how that turned out. Again congrats on the big win but some in here need to relax and let your GM make the right moves and not just make trades for the sake of making trades - Gordzilla

Ok so where does he slot in between
Orr
Lidstrom
Pronged
Doughty
Hedman - Larsson_fan
I have no idea but Lindstrom himself said he's better than him when he was that age

We'll find that out in 15-25 years. Where does McDavid slot in among: Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Howe?

i think he's really good and the kind of defender you need to win championships.
I literally don't care about the rest |

He might be....keep in mind Lidstrom was drafted 53rd overall and was a bit of a late bloomer. |

Underrated part of this is it's yet another core talent (along with potentially mittelstadt) who will most likely be exempt from the next expansion draft. |

Generational has been watered down so much that it doesn't mean what it should.

Talent wise and achievement prorated for his age and games played he probably is below Mario, on par with Sid. Gretzky is more than a Generational talent, more like once every 100 years. |

I want my best guys playing the most minutes
casey can play 20 minutes on jack's side and do so much more than anyone else
the gap between casey and nylander as top lw is much bigger IMO than the gap between casey and e-rd as third line center playing 13 minutes
and I want to win NOW

Not by me. I am of the opinion that there really are only 5 or 6 generational players.

Mario
Howe
Orr
Sid
McDavid

Richard
Lidström
Jagr
Messier
You can’t thank Garth and a bunch of you guys for watering it down. |

Win now? So trade your underdeveloped talent for vets and go buck wild at free agency?
You need to be patient Bubba. 2 full seasons with marked improvement and no playoffs and you’ll be on the cusp. |

That's why i ask. It makes it more likely that theyd part ways if he wants a big deal, but you're not totally sure on what you're getting.
At their best , I think Trouba is more balanced and a better fit with this team (and dahlin) long term, but it's hard to say |

I pretty much agree. Button's said repeatedly that he's the best defenseman to enter the draft since Denis Potvin. That's gotta put him into the generation prospect discussion, even by the strictest standards.
If you lower the bar to including Matthews, or even down to Ekblad, then there's just no question that he is. Calling Ekblad generational is silly to me, but yet some people do. If you do, then I have problem lumping Eichel in there too. My bar is closer to yours though.

Why make that deal? Trouba is hurt way to much and Risto is better player. You have a Trouba type player in McCabe. |
