If Risto can bring us a sure fire top line winger for Jack I’d consider it. ROR could be moved for a defenseman to compensate for it. It all depends on offers coming in on our players. If someone is going to overpay, Botts will have to at least listen. |

He’s still trading a “core” player. It still will happen regardless of Dahlin |

Would Sabres trade right-shot D Rasmus Ristolainen (41 pts) to Oilers for the 10th overall pick and something else which would give Buff the No. 1 and No. 10 selections? Hearing he might be available |

LHD RHD
Dahlin-Risto
Scandella-Nelson
McCabe-Bogo
Guhle-Borgen
Pilut
Beaulieu
Something’s gotta give here. Not enough spots for all these LHD. One of them will have to play the offside or be moved in the offseason. |

Ristolainen for Galchenyuk
O’Reilly for the 7th pick
Clear 8 mil and sign Carlson
Boom (none of this would happen) |

Bowel U will be waved at some point this season. McCabe or Scandella will probably end up as trade bait. |

I'd want more than the 10th overall, and here's why: if we are talking as if at least one long term deal needs to go, my ranking would be ROR first and Risto last. Now I understand that the combo of Bogo and Okposo are impossible to trade, so really the order would be ROR and then Risto.
That leads me to believe ROR is the number one most likely candidate to go, which would mean I'd be looking to get a haul for Risto. |

Sam is one of Jack's wingers. GMJB is not going to bust up their chemistry unless Sam is traded for greater than his value, which he will not get. ROR is the rumored locker room riff, he's the center who now needs to be pushed down to 3C because of Mittelstadt. He is the guy who wants to be 1C and captain, but doesn't appear good enough. I don't see how ROR is not the piece that's moved.
Everyone might not agree, but I also see Nylander being Mittelstadts winger for years to come. They're the same age and seem to get along, chemistry will develop. - sskkoo1
Botterill still has to work to do. He needs to decide which players want to show up every night while collecting hefty pay cheques, as well as deciding those who just showed up when it didn't really matter because of a new contract pending. Reinhart's lack of speed and consistent failure to win one on one battles is not what I would want on the team if I was GM. Just my opinion. |

That would mean your long term deals at $6M or more per year would be Eichel, Dahlin, Carlson, Okposo, Mittelstadt, Galchenyuk, the 7th pick, assuming the last 3 all pan out.
Is that good enough? |

I actually am not as high on Carlson as some.
He’s really good but not worth 7+ IMO |

why are we trading risto now?
so our RD can be nelson, bogo and fedun
I want to see risto and dahlin for 2 seasons
It will be nice to have a legit #1 and probable legit #2 d man on the ice at the same time
if anything, I think this makes risto a much better d man, and energized

dahlin-risto
mccabe-carlson

I would only trade Risto for a haul, as a blatant attempt to totally bend over the team trading for him.
We all know the most likely traded player currently on the roster... |

Maybe Sam does go. But, you can see he's growing in maturity and becoming a very good player. He put up 50pts on the worst team in the league in only half a season. he could be a 60-65 pt guy next season, and no one on this team has had the ability to deflect pucks like him since Vanek. Like Sam's reputation has always been, he'll never WoW you with a play, but when you like at the stats he's got 4 pts in the game somehow. |
