I could prorate a hundred current or former NHL players that had promising starts, a few career years, a couple scoring titles, etc. That doesn't make them generational. Great start, he's great, enjoy him.
Again, let's see him do it, year after year after year for 10-12 years like so many before him have. - Powerslave
Ummm....no, there haven’t been even a few players outside the list of generational talents to win the scoring title at ages 20 and 21. None. What he has done is truly remarkable and extremely rare.
Will he have a HOF career? Who knows.
Has he displayed that he is amongst the most gifted and Talented players to ever play the game? Absolutely. |

I still can't believe we landed a generational Talent
I was so set on us picking the two wingers - gerbe75pts
No better feeling than winning that bloody lottery. When the Leafs won I was running around like Homer Simpson when he grew his hair back. |

yes, IMO the perfect 3rd line center for a team that wants to play an upbeat north south game - homiedclown
Calvert, Helm stinks I wouldn't trade McCabe for him. |

One contract against total payroll is Currently 15% , like to see 13% , Length should be 7 if you stay with team 5 if going to a new team . That way team has better shot at retaining their stars and it would help owners protect them from themselves. Just look at Buffalo Moulsen deal would be over and Okposo deal would be a little easier to swallow and easier to move. - Gordzilla
It's currently 20% and if the cap doesn't go up McDavid will be at 16.67%. No one is going to do a max deal. And Moulson was a 5 year deal, so it wouldn't change. It was unfortunate that Okposo got hurt. That's just the game, but he was producing otherwise, and when he was finally healthy this year he went on a tear and then got another concussion. It's not like he's Lucic and just sucks. |

The idea of domi's speed on eichel's wing is intriguing but it still leaves eichel without a goal scorer and domi is significantly worse defensively. His most common linemate was Keller and most common blueliner was ekman-larsson so his stats aren't exactly held back |

Right. The last thing Eichel needs with him is someone worse than him defensively. |

Was he ever as good as Lucic? Was last year and Probably will Be next year but he’s never been very productive and he’s always had a good center. |

if you can't get him a true sniper, the next best thing is a silfverberg type. can contribute offensively but also above average in his own end.
That way you don't have to hold your breath every time that line gets a defensive zone start. |

Just a spitball idea. Eichel needs somebody faster. If Domi is more of a setup man, that's fine imo, maybe he could get Eichel 40g |

His expected goals against numbers are significantly worse this year than last year.
Maybe he tries harder, and has more takeaways, but it doesn't solve the underlying issue.

Is it just me or do you guys think Cane's fans are crazy for wanting to pass on Svech and choose Zadina because he apparently has Chemistry with Necas?
Also, why so much hate for Sam? Some of you say he only showed up at the end of the year and yet completely leave out that for most of the beginning they had him playing center, when he always plays wing, and put him with crappy wingers. Some of you say that he only started playing towards the end because of his contract, which I say bull. He started playing better because Phil started playing him where he is most comfortable and where he should be playing, on the wing. If they would have kept him at wing all year his totals would have continued to increase throughout the entire season, just like he has the previous 2 seasons.
Of all the players being discussed as trade option only ROR makes any sense, and I like ROR. Trading Risto will be one step forward another back when it comes to our defense. If we trade Sam he most likely will come back to bite us in the a$$, but to an even further extend than all the other home grown talent we gave away and b---h about on a daily basis. Risto also falls into that bite us in the a$$ category too. |

A more skilled Girgensons and a younger Pomminville would work nicely, now that Svech/Zad/TK aren't options. Undersized or weak defensively are red flags to me.

The HFB people also thought crosby was too soft for the NHL. Why you would choose that as a source is beyond me - Sabresfan-365
He was his first few years. He was lighting it up, yeah, but if anyone touched him he complained. |

Lol...you make it sound like his complaining made his goals moot.

Don't think it's fair to put Sam failing at center on Phil. The team has some important long term decisions to make players/contracts. Love it or hate it, Sam's someone they have to take a hard look at. Probably just ends up with a bridge deal. They have to be very careful on long term deals right now.

You're putting McDavid in a class that only has 5 other players in NHL history, after 3 years in the league? 😂😂😂
Players like Trottier, Dionne, Yzerman, Esposito, Bourque, Bossy...I could go on and on, have done so much more, for so much longer.
I think we need to pump the brakes on McDavid until he has 10 more years of this. - Powerslave
"Generational talent" is the dumbest (frank)ing thing, it's literally impossible to have 2 players from the same generation, Gretzky and Lemieux, as "generational". If you go by that only Howe and Orr, possibly Richard are the only generational talents. We need a new term, you can't have a generational talent every year. |
