why are we trading risto now?
so our RD can be nelson, bogo and fedun
I want to see risto and dahlin for 2 seasons
It will be nice to have a legit #1 and probable legit #2 d man on the ice at the same time
if anything, I think this makes risto a much better d man, and energized - homiedclown
Dahlin
Risto
Scandella
McCabe
Nelson
Guhle
Bogo
It's definitely better. Antipin, Gorges and Falk were dead weight. The Sabres are probably going to have to wait another year to get rid of Bogo. Hopefully he can be occasionally healthy |

I would only trade Risto for a haul, as a blatant attempt to totally bend over the team trading for him.
We all know the most likely traded player currently on the roster... - kingcong39
I think it all depends on what JB thinks of Risto.
If he thinks he’s a competent #2 who just needs to mature a bit, it won’t happen.
If he thinks he’s just a 2nd pairing D who’s not listening to two coaches in a row, I think he’s a goner |

I would trade risto for the 3rd so we can have Jack eichel's Winger for the next 10 years also |

Risto doesn't get you anywhere in the top 7 let alone the third. I don't think 23 would get you the third. |

Can’t pay all of Eichel, O’Reilly, Sam, Risto, mitts and Dahlin.
Most cores are 4-5 high paid people max, with some middling contracts and younger players around them. Or you start to run into problems.
I’m thinking Eichel, mitts, Dahlin and Risto.
Possible room for one more. One of Sam or O’Reilly needs to be moved for a younger cheaper player or draft pick. |

You think if we add the first? Also - gerbe75pts
Carolina doesn’t have the cash to take all of this on. Svech in a rookie deal is literally perfect for them. We would have to pay a ton. I doubt the Jets would trade us Laine for ROR and Sam and I think Svechnikov is on that level. He is going to be unreal. Might even have a better career then Dahlin. |

Uncoachable. That would be the reason if they do - sbroads24
Some, most don’t get the concept of team play.
Would love to see the reaction if say Shady decided to run post patterns versus patterns out in the flats as a relief valve. Same thing. |

He scores. Gerbe’s Ovi Junior comparison might not be far fetched. Carolina is getting a very good hockey player. I take Dahlin 10 times out of 10. But Svechnikov can be a perennial 40 goal scorer if he continues on this projectory he’s on. |

you can pay 2 d men, 3 when not paying a goalie
jack is the upper contract up front
if dahlin and casey become super stars, cross that bridge with ror when the time comes
right now the focus should be moving on from okposo, moulson and bogo
and signing asplund
nothing more, nothing less |

Bingo....this is the difference in trading Risto vs. trading ROR. In trading Risto we are left with the bolded above. Trade ROR...we still have Jack, Mitts, ERod down the middle. |

Would Sabres trade right-shot D Rasmus Ristolainen (41 pts) to Oilers for the 10th overall pick and something else which would give Buff the No. 1 and No. 10 selections? Hearing he might be available
Oh. Yessssssssss - gerbe75pts
You can get a lot more from Chiarelli for that. See Taylor Hall trade. |

No one is taking okposo moulson or bogo. If they were they already would of been moved. It’s why it’s pointless talking about them. They are 3 of the worst contracts in league. Only way they are being moved is buyouts or trading 1st rd picks with them. |

I bet Botterill hasn’t even tried to move them yet. He had the ability to carry the cap hit while he was figuring out the rest of the roster. Now that he’s ready to start building, now is when he needs to dump the hit. |

Ristolainen for Galchenyuk
O’Reilly for the 7th pick
Clear 8 mil and sign Carlson
Boom (none of this would happen) - sbroads24
I know he's better at his position, but this team is still in no position to hand out 7 year deals (ala Okposo), and that is what it would take to land Carlson. They need to pass on that. |
