Next years awesome draft is loaded with Centers in the top 10 that can step in right away. Trade Pacioretty and Gallagher for great returns. Tank next year. Trade Price if someone will take the contract. Retain a couple million per if you have to.

Bergevin has done a solid job with Pacioretty. because now he either has to trade him as a pending UFA coming off the worst year of his career, or he has to sign him long term and pay him as a first line forward through the declining years of his career, a la Carey Price.

we can criticize Bergevin for a lot of things, but there might not be a better general manager in all of professional sports when it comes to asset management. he is an absolute genius.

I think it really depends on how #17 plays. It's a make or break year for him for sure. They should have one of the better secondaries in the league now but i'm afraid they could become quite easy to run the ball on.
