As opposed to keeping him, and hoping to squeeze a bit more out of him, I'd see what Leier might bring in trade value (3rd, maybe?). Let him have a fresh start and hopefully he takes advantage of it. - Coleman
I would be shocked if Leier could fetch a 3rd round pick in a trade.

Considering Cousins and Madsen only got a 5th and a prospect who probably will never be signed I would think a 3rd is a pipe dream but who knows, there are dumb GMs out there |

While the Flyers top 2 lines are in line with most other teams, its the 3rd and 4th lines where you see that extra gear in those six teams. And that is where the Flyers get beat come playoff time. - MBFlyerfan
I found it strange several folks agreed with you there....check out the +/- in the playoffs. Giroux -10, Ghost -8, Prov - 6, Patrick -5, Voracek -3.
It was the top 6 that were badly outplayed in the playoffs. |

Plus minus isn't the be all end all of hockey statistics that it's made out to be. Willing to bet several of those top 6 were totally spent from even making the playoffs and some from being matched up against Douchebag Crosby. |

Been thinking an unhealthy amount about No. 14 and 19 in the draft.
Today -- and I'll probably change my mind 20 times before the draft -- I think they should stay put and make both selections, preferably one of whom is a scoring forward with serious skating ability and hockey sense.
Like many of us watching the playoffs, we all realize the truth: While the Flyers aren't slow, there is another gear in play with maybe six of the final eight teams. I wouldn't mind if the Flyers added another first-round talent to their forward corps -- hopefully soon -- who can match the pace that we're seeing - AllInForFlyers
I'm hoping both players are forwards. I'm hoping one or the other is known for their leathal shot and one or the other has decent size. |

They took 3 forwards in the first 35 picks last season. With two picks in the first 20 I'd like to see one of them be a defenseman. |

I don't think you're going to get a prospect known for his lethal shot outside the top 8 to be completely honest |

Agree...They need another top D prospect (though they have made some good late picks on defensemen recently) |

my buddy apparently just heard about what Hextall said during his exit interview...so it kind of restarted the conversation
the part specifically about what Hextall is looking for (player personnel) next season. He said he wants a veteran center and a bottom 6 forward that can PK. Obviously that can be acquired in a trade, but using the reference that we have we can assume he is looking for some combination of Boyd Gordon/PEB/Dale Weise? Consider me unimpressed and slightly worried.
My current short list would be:
Tomas Nosek (will be RFA)
Antoine Roussel (shorter term than Weise please)
Riley Nash (worried he will price out)
mild mild Jay Beagle interest |

I am also pretty against the idea of using one of the first rounders to trade for a player that can help us now |

If it is for Stone I take back everything I said. I am in love with Mark Stone (not quite Barzal/Sanheim love, but still true love) |

Not sure if a blanket statement is valid here. If they use a first on a player that supports the value, then go with it. You can’t build a champion with nothing but draft choices. It takes a few hockey trades for the right players as well. |

Not being a Richard. I’m just wondering who you think makes that much of impact on this team at 19 to stay in the draft, and not look for a 3c or top nine wing. |
