A lot of the guys you listed in the first set of players weren't acquired until the Kings were ready to compete. Penner was acquired at the trade deadline the season before they won the cup. Richards was acquired the off season before they won the cup, Gagne was signed in the off season before they won the cup. Carter was acquired at the deadline the year the won the cup.

Seems like the same script Hextall is following. When he thinks they're ready he will add the pieces he feels that will put them over the top.

I just pray it works.

Do names like Jeremy Roenick and Craig Conroy sound familiar to you on a bad Kings team? Anyone who says LA didn't make moves any time is incorrect.

Wow, Wilson gets 3.

Next time Marchand does something they may sit him for a whole period.

- MBFlyerfan

He hit a Penguin. Apparently Regis threatened to hold his breath until he turned blue unless Wilson got suspended.

I don't think he should've been suspended at all. They got this one wrong. Yes, I did watch the video. This is a simple case of the suspension being based on who the player making the hit was. Wilson has earned that reputation but that shouldn't make a good hit a bad hit. If another player had made that hit, I doubt that a suspension would've been levied.

The suspension was all about the broken jaw imo like Keith jones said. I don’t think it was a bad hit either as I think the primary point of contact was the shoulder. Reese had his shoulder bladed to Wilson and shrunk a bit. No injury, nobody blinks at this

I'm torn on this one. This wasn't Matt Cooke on Marc Savard or Steve Downie on Dean McAmmond but you're right and I think Tom Wilson is a Richard. I just don't see this as he was targeting the head. At worst, I guess you can say he didn't do enough to avoid the head.
- FlyerFan16

it is a reputation call and a Pens call. Basically the guy was hurt so he got the book thrown at him and I hate Wilson.

Sorry but I don't agree. The bench side view still shows that the principal point of contact was the shoulder and not the head. The narrator in the video also says that Aston-Reese's head snaps back independent of his body making it consistent with a head shot. That's false according to their own video. It was a good hit in my opinion. There are some things that I don't like about the hit, but that's a different conversation.

The DOPS can't get obvious foot slews and other infractions right and then their own video disproves them when they do suspend a player.

garbage call, then they make it 3 games, I am not sure what is worse, the suspension or the 3 games. You play the Pens, you play the league. How they do nothing for Malkins slew foot and this ??? Plesase, any explanation???

Lombardi made plenty of moves. Fans were calling for his head because the team sucked and didn't make the playoffs.
- Doctor DOOM

The displeasure went on with Lombardi even after they started making the playoffs. The fans wanted him to aggressively add to the team when they were knocked out of the playoffs.

This is about marketing as much as anything. They know the casual fan and hack sports writers will slobber all over the Pens...imagine the amount of crying out of Pittsburgh had they not done something, it would be front page news for days.

As much as it was lumping Wilson in to the Gudas/Rinaldo boy band....its also about $.

In all honesty was this hit any worse then Giroux on Hagelin? I know there was a broken jaw involved but without the injuries, was this much different?

Lombardi didn't acquire either of those players but he did trade away Conroy.

Certainly there are differences. I see this as attempting to reel in Wilson. Ironically they don't see the need to reel in star players such as Marchand and Malkin.

They’d be smarter just to trade back a couple spots if that’s the guy they really want.

He really seems to be rocketing up draft boards. I think the dream of getting him is starting to die

Lol, how? Don't get me wrong, I'd be very happy with him at 14 but if someone passes over Zadina for him they're mental.

I mean, Columbus did it with PLD over Puljujarvi. Not that the players in question are the same, but I think it would be a similar thing to happen when comparing draft rankings.
