Hard to see Hextall paying above whatever the market value to keep Wayne. If he really wants to stay, he may have to take something close to his last deal around 4 per year. Any numbers being thrown out North of 5 seem unreasonable given his age , the prospects coming up to take future roster spots and salary cap considerations.

My preference is for Simmonds to remain a Flyer in a fair deal for both sides.

I think 6+ months trumps 3 days.

But honestly, if you really haven't seen it, it's completely trivial and irrelevant to the plot.

Hextall knows he'll have to offer a better deal than 4M a year to retain him. As long as Simmonds rebounds and plays like the player he has been, a number north of 5M is not unreasonable.

In all honesty, I prefer to bring him back. Last offseason was the year to trade him if he was going to be dealt. Simmonds is certainly one of my favorite Flyers of the last 10 years or so.

As I have stated before I don't think it would be smart to re-sign Simmonds. North of 30, major miles on his body due to the way he plays. That being said I love me some Wayne Train and will always have the memories.....
