all three will be here next year imo - Sabresfan-365
Most likely
Although if ROR really is a locker room cancer, then i think he’d have enough value that Botts could make a good deal
Everytime i hear Botts talk about him though, he really sticks up for ROR & what he said
(Espn podcast most recently, nice interview with Botts. About 30min in if i remember right) |

He said hes lost his love for playing.
He is laying the ground work for his whining to get moved again. This is literally the exact same series of events that isolated him from the Avs - Shadman306
The key difference would be that his pout fest in Colorado also revolved around financial compensation. That's no longer an issue. |

At $4 million+ per year, no thanks. I would rather bring in Bernier or somebody like that for a year or two @ $2.5 mil per. Plus I think the Lehner experiment in Buffalo is done. Probably best for both parties to move on. - SabreWest
I'm not sold on Bernier as the answer. He started 34 games last year. That means we're sold on Ullmark as the starter. I'm not sure he's ready for 50 games next season. Grubauer is going to be expensive. I just don't see a ton of short term, quality options is all.
We control Lehner with the RFA status, I doubt he's bolting overseas, so I'd rather rope him into a one or two year deal and see where UPL is at the end of that. |

The underlying driver for his argument was that he believed he should be THE guy, and by extension paid like The guy |

For the record, I want ROR gone and not just cause of some maybe off ice issues. I just don't see it happening, Botts really seems to like the idea of Eichel-ROR-Casey down the middle |

Ryan O’Reilly will be one of the top players teams want
And this all has to do With John Tavares once He signs teams are going to be lining up for Ryan O’Reilly (back up Plan) - gerbe75pts
Is Tavares playing for Team Canada?
I saw the roster quickly the other day & don’t remember |

And now he's quickly realizing he won't be one of the top 2 or 3 guys.
He's a goner IMO |

That’s what he keeps saying anyways
We all know GMs lie though
Probably depends what offers he gets
I’d at least let ppl bid for him & see what happens |

I don't think it hurts to keep him, I just can't see why you wouldn't see high at this point. Especially if he's not happy here.

in terms of creating and moving the needle, guys like Guhle, Mittelstadt and even Reinhart |

Id say same reason they wouldn't sell high on risto. They're both probably going to do more heavy lifting for this team so that Dahlin and Casey don't have to. |

Reinhart I'll give you because he's just so studly. You know I love Guhle, but he's not there yet, same can probably be said for Mitts can't it? |

I think if Risto can get you a Hall like player, JB wouldn't be stupid and say no, but I doubt that's possible.
There are guys you can bring in to bridge if you make a deal that actually makes you better. |

Can we agree that RoR has the potential to be a very good 2C and a decent 1C on some teams, but he doesnt fit into the sabres long term.
Why wouldnt we move one of our more valuable chips to get younger and faster.
regardless of your opinion on him as a player by the time we are competitive, RoR will be our 3C at best and you cannot expect to be competitive if you are paying a 3C 7.5mil |

St. Louis makes sense because in order to be an effective 1B/2A center, his wingers have to do the scoring. They have that.
He can't make your average winger better. |

1) No
2) We can without trading RoR
3) Mittelstadt has won the Calder already I see
Sorry, I'm being a d-bag. I just think he fits the mold of a perfect 1-2 punch with Jack that I'm not fond of the idea of trading him. Okposo and Bogo are weighing this team down, not RoR. Just 2 cents. |

I mean, they're defensive tire fires because they're kids, but offensively they clearly move the needle significantly more than ROR.

One didn't play, the other put up 17 less points than ROR.
We were 31st |

I was more talking about their cap hits and the fact that this team could potentially jump up quickly if they weren't weighed down by those deals.
RoR gets talked about as if he's amazingly overpaid even though we have Bogo sitting at his house for 5.4M. |

Disagree on Guhle. 5pts in 18 games in comparison to a repeated 60pt getter.
Mitts I think will be, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he's an All Star by any means. |
