With 9 signed defensemen:
Dahlin
Scandella
Pilut
Ristolainen
McCabe
Nelson
Bealuieu
Bogosian
Guhle
Does this mean Botts has a deal to ship out Bogosian? - Mentalorgasm5
Pilut is not signed (will be after WC) but is also not a lock for Buffalo (yet). May be a contractual requirement. Who knows. Leaves 8. Even IF Guhle started in Rochester, one of those guys gots ta go. So it'll be between McCabe, Bowls, Bogo... AND you don't know if Botts will want to bring in a veteran depth guy in the Justin Falk role.. a guy that doesn't need development and a guy you don't mind benching half the season. And when he plays, he can play quality minutes and do his job. So maybe we see 1-2 dmen turned over.
And this doesn't include trades for the top tier of our dmen. |

Could be a possibility
Didn’t Jack wear a funky number in camp though?
I believe he didn’t start wearing 15 until the regular season
Also...
does Jack switch & wear 9 now that Kane’s gone?
I could see it happen - jdfitz77
He wore 41 |

Our cap situation could definitely be a lot better. Wouldn't be surprised if Botts worked real hard to get rid of Bogo, somehow.
A BO wouldn't be that expensive on the cap. Way more expensive to BO Moulson. |

i think we should sign a few falk, fedun type guys for the AHL/call up duties.. i know its down the road but i don't want to ever see a wide eyed patches in the lineup for game 7 ever again |

Jack didn't pick 15 arbitrarily. I guess it's his right to switch, but my guess is he doesn't. |

He wore 41 - SABRES 89
So we might not know what Dahlin is gonna wear till the Reg Season starts
I wonder if Jack switches to #9? |

defensive depth wins cups. Thanks Darcy.
I absolutely loved what Botts did with all the depth he signed this past season. Unfortunately, we had to dip deep into that depth and use Matt Tennyson in a role that he should never sniff. If we can manage to sign a guy on the cheap that can play the 5-6 easily and 3-4 in a pinch, it would be an amazing find. A faster, better passing Falk. Maybe Brandon Manning or Greg Pateryn. Even Mark Barberio could be decent. |

Not necessarily
Pilut, Nelson & Guhle can all go to the AHL
Bogosian &/Beaulieu can be waived & sent to the AHL - jdfitz77
I figured Guhle will start the season in the AHL. Can Nelson go to the AHL, he is 25 and has 3 professional seasons? |

If Pilut & Guhle go to rochester...
Dahlin-Ristolainen
Scandella-Bogosian
McCabe-Nelson
Beaulieu
At least that’s probably how it starts
I don’t see an issue with Beaulieu as our 7th
If Guhle is up here like most assume...
Does Mccabe rotate with Guhle & Scandella?
Or does McCabe sit until Bogo gets hurt?
If that’s the plan, who shifts to the right? |

Mouslon has 1 year left, if bought out, he would have a 3,666,667 cap hit. As it stands now, with him in the AHL, he is a cap hit of 3,975,000. If he is buyout, fire Botts. |

Not sure how a pending UFA could then be waiver exempt on his next deal.
I don't think he can |

No, but i think it’s pretty well known that he wore 9 at Boston U and that was his preferred number
Chose his TeamUSA number bc 9 was taken by Kane
Maybe he changes for a fresh start?
Or maybe he just sticks with 15?
Just curious since 9 is now an option for him |

I didnt think so either. Its why I am hoping with the Nelson resigning, drafting of Dahlin, and the soon to be announced Pilut trade, that Botts has something in the works for Bogosian. |

I don’t know what the NHL rules are with that?
As far as i know, the only league who has rules on that stuff is the NFL (bc of the jerseys, like u brought up) |

I would give a gently used Hudson Fasching + a 3rd for someone to take Bogosian and give us a 5th |

The only scenario this log jam of defenders on the left side works is if Pilut and Guhle go the AHL.
It's plausible but the real question is, how long do they stay there? Pilut was named top SHL d-man at 22 and Guhle has shown serious talent. It won't be long before they earn the call up, especially since we assume they're trying to ice the best possible team they can.
At some point between now and the end of the calendar year, one of McCabe or Scandella will have to be moved. |

This is a point I have overlooked until now. A BO would just be a service to the player and a huge detriment to the team. Looks like he's got another year on the Reign. |

i just don't know how bogo is tradeable at all.. just doesn't seem possible, unless there is someone that needs to hit the cap floor and we send them bogo and agree to pay half his salary |

He's still waiver exempt because of games played and years of professional service. Group 6 UFAs are an odd exemption. |
