move back into the first. I think he will be a steal at the end of the draft. Similar to Konecny was for the Flyers. - Mentalorgasm5
Merkly is a top10 talent who may fall bc of attitude issues
Not like we need more of that
But if he grows up it could end up being a hell of a pick
I’m guessing someone would take him in the late1st though |

(frank) that. Merkley can rot someone else's team. Josh Hosang and Anthony DeAngelo say hi. |

Depends on what Matt wants. If he likes playing for the Reign, let him play. If team x and/or y says, if you BO Moulson we'd like to sign him, and he has interest in going to team x or y, I believe the classy thing to do is buy him out. - TheSabresTaco
Nobody wants him at any price. I don't mean to rail on the guy, but he's the antithesis of modern NHL hockey. His choices are: AHL, Europe, or a nice bonus and the rest of his almost $40 million dollars to enjoy his retirement |

had no idea you talked to all 31 GMs and got their opinion. I can see your point, but being certain that "nobody wants him" might be a little premature. |

I'll take whats behind door 3. I would love to retire at 30-something with millions of dead presidents to play with the rest of my life.

He couldn't stay on the roster of the worst team in the NHL. He might be literally the slowest player in the league at a time when speed is valued above all else. |

Keep McCabe. There's about 5 other guys on the d that I would gone before McCabe.
I find it interesting that many of the posters on this board that want to run McCabe out of town are bitter that the Sabres traded McNabb. McCabe and McNabb play the same style of game. God, if we trade Risto and McCabe like everyone wants, will we have any d-men that will actually hit anyone? |

No one wants him even at half price. But a club may want him at league min. We shall find out. |

I meant after 2-3 seasons....when Mittelstadt's next deal kicks in and then Dahlin.
Project it if you want. I have and it's tight. - Lunaion
It is tight, but there is at least time to make changes. Bogo, Moulson, Pommer and Gorges contracts are all gone, so some help is on the way. Yes, we do have to pay out a lot of that to Jack now and other raises, however, the cap is going up with expansion, so I would estimate that we will be fine.
I do think Botts will try desperately to move either Okposo or Bogo this summer. |

There's plenty of time. It's just something to consider before offering a big long term UFA deal. |

He's made around $38m in his career. I don't know that it would be worth it to him. Maybe though - jcragcrumple
Pretty sure any 35 year old hockey player who's been in good health would take 2 million to do something they love.
You really can't have enough $.
Too bad he doesn't get another shot up here.
Maybe he does

Here's a path that might be reasonable to get to 3 : Reinhart and 32 to get number 8 from the Blackhawks.
#8, next year's second and ROR might get you to #3.
I wouldn't do it, but it could get done |

Sabres cap hit will be fine by the time Dahlin and Mittelstadt need bigger deals. Don't think Moulson retires but a buyout is more likely and I don't know who would take Bogo playing around 200 games in the past 4 years. The hope might be that he actually plays a full season and then trade him for something. Grubauer would be an excellent addition but I think we would have to give up something else instead of 47 |

I would give up Reinhart, 32 and next year's1st for Svech. I don't think that would get it done though. |

5 things I hope Botts does by October 1:
- confirm Moulson is still in the minors for his last season as a Sabre
- trade Lehner or let him walk
- somehow untangle us from Bogo without giving away the farm
- sign Reinhart to a reasonable 2-year bridge contract @ $3.5 per
- confirm Asplund is coming to North America
By the next TDL:
- trade Pommer. The sooner the better.
If he does all of the above, he deserves an "A" grade. Anything else is gravy. |

Could be a possibility
Didn’t Jack wear a funky number in camp though?
I believe he didn’t start wearing 15 until the regular season
Also...
does Jack switch & wear 9 now that Kane’s gone?
I could see it happen - jdfitz77
Jack wore number 41 in his first training camp and insisted he wouldn't pick a regular number until he was selected for the team. |

I like it all but Lehner and Pommer ideas. Pommer has negative value because of his cap hit, next year is his last year on that contract, no reason to move him and pay. If someone will give you a 5th for a playoff run I guess you do that, but can't imagine that will have any real significance.
Lehner I resign and pair with Ullmark. We can probably get a 1-2 year deal worked out there and then let him walk when Ullmark or the future #1 is ready. |
