5 things I hope Botts does by October 1:

- confirm Moulson is still in the minors for his last season as a Sabre
- trade Lehner or let him walk
- somehow untangle us from Bogo without giving away the farm
- sign Reinhart to a reasonable 2-year bridge contract @ $3.5 per
- confirm Asplund is coming to North America

By the next TDL:

- trade Pommer. The sooner the better.

If he does all of the above, he deserves an "A" grade. Anything else is gravy.

Depends on what Matt wants. If he likes playing for the Reign, let him play. If team x and/or y says, if you BO Moulson we'd like to sign him, and he has interest in going to team x or y, I believe the classy thing to do is buy him out.
- TheSabresTaco

Yeah, me too
I’m sure he’d appreciate the chance to play in the NHL this year
Could probably at least sign a PTO with someone

(frank) that. Merkley can rot someone else's team. Josh Hosang and Anthony DeAngelo say hi.
- TheSabresTaco

True
But if he grows up he could be a steal for someone

I like it all but Lehner and Pommer ideas. Pommer has negative value because of his cap hit, next year is his last year on that contract, no reason to move him and pay. If someone will give you a 5th for a playoff run I guess you do that, but can't imagine that will have any real significance.

Lehner I resign and pair with Ullmark. We can probably get a 1-2 year deal worked out there and then let him walk when Ullmark or the future #1 is ready.

- RhinoFan

At $4 million+ per year, no thanks. I would rather bring in Bernier or somebody like that for a year or two @ $2.5 mil per. Plus I think the Lehner experiment in Buffalo is done. Probably best for both parties to move on.

ROR no way top 10, Reinhart, maybe
- hehateme

Ryan O’Reilly will be one of the top players teams want

And this all has to do With John Tavares once He signs teams are going to be lining up for Ryan O’Reilly (back up Plan)

I doubt it that’s not sending a message to your team by doing nothing ..

The plans should not change

It is tight, but there is at least time to make changes. Bogo, Moulson, Pommer and Gorges contracts are all gone, so some help is on the way. Yes, we do have to pay out a lot of that to Jack now and other raises, however, the cap is going up with expansion, so I would estimate that we will be fine.

I do think Botts will try desperately to move either Okposo or Bogo this summer.

- RhinoFan

Idk if he can though?

Play Okposo with Jack this year
If he stays healthy, his numbers will bounce back to a point where we could move him next summer

Bogo could be a possibility if we eat salary
Someone would take a chance on him for 2.5m
Especially a team like the Caps if they lose Carlson
Trade him & a pick for Grubauer

Here's a path that might be reasonable to get to 3 : Reinhart and 32 to get number 8 from the Blackhawks.

#8, next year's second and ROR might get you to #3.

I wouldn't do it, but it could get done

- jcragcrumple

That’s too much for #3

I totally agree, but pommer is going to play for buffalo next year. I thought he had a good year. 1 year left on his deal.......

Least of our worries.

I think if Reinhart's contract demands are sky high and don't change going into training camp maybe.

I think the lottery win keeps risto around, and I don't think they ever really wanted to move ROR.

So you are paying lehner 4.5 million or more?

Did you catch any Sabres games this season?

Lehner might not be in the nhl next year

Sounds like Ho-Sang during his draft...

Not a bad comparison

Ho-Sang has all kinds of talent too if he’d just quit being a jackass

I would give up Reinhart, 32 and next year's1st for Svech. I don't think that would get it done though.
- jcragcrumple

Me too
I also don’t think that would get it done though

Maybe something packaged around O’Reilly?
But we’d have to add,
and they’d obviously have to really want ROR

I’m hoping the Habs are desperate enough to move #3

GMJB said all of the core wont be back and then mentioned team speed immediately after. do you really think RoR will be back?

He said hes lost his love for playing.

He is laying the ground work for his whining to get moved again. This is literally the exact same series of events that isolated him from the Avs

The problem is, who does he consider core? We may not call him a core player, but okposo is paid and to some extent used like one. could be talking about him or someone like Lehner.
