I think anyone on here would give their left nut for Doughty. And yes it would cost a crap ton to acquire him. I think the problem would be that we're taking more steps backwards by how much we'd have to give up.

Keep in mind if JT walks and Lee is traded... we're losing almost 80 goals. I would think it's a better idea to acquire legitimate top 4 dmen at a lesser cost than going out and acquiring a huge superstar dman. If the isles ever do want to go on a cup run... they're going to need some sort of depth. We'd be giving up a whole lot of depth for 1 guy.

Cant assume but if team goes full rebuild, maybe Ladd would lift his NMC and except a trade in 2yrs, where his contract wont be as bad. Cal can be moved not big cap hit. Plus Seattle is coming in 2yrs so anything is possible by then.....

Kulemin is a UFA, so he's not a salary dump. You'd need to take Ladd and Clutterbuck, if you want a couple of salary dumps.

If Lou does come, its not going to make a difference, he may be better equipped for NHL operation etc, but the game is slowly passing him & he's made some bad decisions within the past few years. Game is getting younger & faster, rather have someone younger than Lou.
