Lou's first act will be trading Lee.

Hey guys just want to see if anyone wants to bet on the goal production of one Andrew Ladd this year?
- nyisles7

Tough to predict. Ladd might hit 20 if Barzal can master the trick of deflecting pucks in off his face. And it’d probably be easier to accomplish if Lou made Ladd shave his ugly mug.

So to summarize:

23 goals if Lou Lams joins the Islanders.
6 if Lou Lams does not.

Nah. The above situation would only occur if Lou replaced Snow. And should that happen, I want Snow to witness a competent GM make the Islanders into a playoff contender. That would be the cruelest cut of all.

He'll witness it from his office as PoHO down the hall from Lou. Then he'll try to take credit for it.

Joking aside I think the Isles should trade Lee this summer. I don't think his value will get any higher than it is right now. I love the guy, but it's probably best for the franchise.

I can see your point, but first I’d try to extend him. If he’s willing to sign for 6 or under, then I’d much rather keep Lee and move Eberle. Eberle certainly won’t be taking a pay cut on his next deal, and I’d argue that Lee’s net front abilities are the rarer of the two skill sets.

What make you think Lee would? They are the same age. Lee has 20 more goal over the past 4 years (114 to 94). This will be the big money contract for both of them.

True, but 6 per is still a significant raise over what Lee currently makes. If one examines the current cost/production ratio for the majority of current NHL contracts, it usually averages out to 1 mill per 10 points scored. Lee’s production therefore makes a deal between 6/6.5 quite reasonable. Then there is the possibility that he follows Bailey’s footsteps and signs a team friendly deal to stay an Islander.
Eberle on the other hand already makes 6 per, and really has no reason to show the Islander organization any form of loyalty.

I still say trade him. If JT stays then there is no way they can sign Lee and Ebs. Ebs game is more suited to the speed of today's NHL. Plus he doesn't take the same abuse as Lee does parking himself in front of the net.

If JT walks I don't think there is anyway Lee comes close to 40 goals so his value goes down. The Isles will need all the rebuilding pieces they can get.

However because I like you, I hope Lee goes to the Oilers.

What would it cost the Oil I wonder? Some cap would have to going back for it to work. Puljujarvi and Sekera perhaps? Or the 10th and Sekera?

The Isles can only take on cap space if JT walks. Snow facked them with his dumb bottom player contracts. This is one of the things that makes this off season such a disaster. They need JT to make a decision before they can pick a direction. Total failure by the front office.

I think Ebs has the edge in speed and does not take the punishment Lee does. I think I would move Lee over Ebs. Sorry schwein.
