Very simple... give him a 10 min unsportsmanlike misconduct penalty, I don't understand the problem here, he gets that once he stops. Because the team needs him on the ice.
That's exactly what it is.. unsportsmanlike

J.T. MILLER with the WINNING SERIES CLINCHING GOAL!
Miller must be at A.V. right now.
I'm at Marchand & Co. for suffering their own LICKS after being buried by Tampa's 4 straight wins in this 5 game series.

By all accounts Gorton didn't want to lure Montgomery here because it's widely known that he wanted to stay in Midwest area. Why make a push for a guy whose family needs were more important to him than working in NYC? Guy wasn't interested, so move on to next candidates. Nothing Gorton could do about it
- rrentz

No one in the hockey world became aware that Montgomery ONLY wanted to relocate as close a distance away until just THIS PAST week. That also includes teams other than the Rangers.
The question is why would Gorton waste his time & effort in not just interviewing, but even considering Montgomery at all, IF POSSIBLY (???) from the very beginning, he may have NEVER actually had been SERIOUSLY interested to make the near cross country trek to coach here in the first place? Gorton was lucky that he didn't lose out on landing another considered coaching option during that time, due to his effort to land Montgomery, despite never making him a contract offer, which we NOW know the reason why he never did.
Gorton should have asked him FIRST if he would be willing to relocate that far away to coach here, prior to the time & effort he devoted. It's no different than that of a UFA being sought heavily by some team on July 1st, when that UFA has no desire to ever want to play for it at all. Meanwhile, that team could lose out to another one on signing another option they had also heavily considered.

... along with the chances of that 2nd Rounder acquired in part for McDonagh and Miller, becoming a 1st Rounder as well in 2019, if Tampa should go on to win the Cup this season, (or either next season).

Marc Andre Fleury has played by far, the best in goal of any goalie in this postseason. He is at least in the top three, if not the 1st ranked favorite overall of any player in the first two rounds to also be playoff MVP. That depending on the final results of the two series remaining headed to a Game #6, who have just skaters competing for now in that top 3 ranking, with Vasilevskiy and Hellebuyck probably the closest to Fleury's play in goal.

Fleury's Hall of Fame stats for the Golden Knights first two rounds won in their inaugural season:
8-2 (one loss of the two in Double OT), and a (1.53 GAA)
17 GA on 344 S.O.G. faced, (327 Saves) & (.951 Save%)

And Fleury first led to the Knights sweep of the Kings in Round One by allowing only 3 goals against in the 4 games combined, while also having only 7 total goals of support. He outplayed Jonathan Quick's .946 Save% by having his own unbelievable .977 Save% in that series sweep.

If Boston had traded for Ryan McDonagh instead of Rick Nash, they’d still be playing.

So the Bruins netted in exchange from the Rangers, 12 extra playoff games played by Rick Nash*, and 2 extra by Nick Holden**, (both UFA's effective July 1st if not re-signed), in exchange for (as per 1* for Nash and 2** for Holden):

*RFA, Ryan Spooner (ditto for NYR to sign or not before July 1st)
**RFA, Rob O"Gara (ditto above)
*Matt Beleskey (in retaining 1/2 only of his annual $3.8M left thru 2109/20)
*Defensive prospect, Ryan Lindgren
*A 2018 1st Rounder
**A 2018 3rd Rounder
*A 2019 7th Rounder

The positive news for the Bruins in their postseason with those 2 separate trades was that Nick Holden had 1 Assist and was a (+1) in his 2 playoff games played.

The negative was that Rick Nash had just 3 Goals & 2 Assists for only 5 Points in his 12 playoff games, and was a (-7), with 2 of his 3 goals coming in the Bruins only win over Tampa in Game 1, in which he was a (+1).

I thought McDonagh was also a bigger need for them than acquiring Rick Nash, given Nash's past failures to produce enough in the postseason.
It's ironic that first, had Toronto acquired McDonagh, they would have likely defeated Boston in Round One, especially due to the horrible series against the Leafs that Rask played in goal. Then second, had Boston been the one to acquire McDonagh, they would not have had the pieces available to acquire Nash, but would have benefited way more from McDonagh's play instead. That could have been the difference in the series going the other way.
But the surprising stat of that series after their Game 1 win, was the Bruins minimal scoring at even strength, reflected by them only leading in their final 4 games they lost for 17:51 combined, as opposed to Tampa's 138:10, and with the two teams tied for the other 87:17 played in the final four.
That was the near opposite in proportion of how the Rangers led in practically that entire 2nd Round series' minutes against Ottawa last season, but lost the series in 6 games instead of winning it also in 5 games, due to those late blown leads resulting in OT losses, unlike Tampa.

The Rangers only get a 1st round pick in 2019 if the Bolts win a championship this year. Important detail.

... and that Kreider may wear a "C" or an "A" on his jersey at this point. We don't even know yet when a new coach will be finally hired or named from within here.

they get it next year if Tampa wins it next year and not this year

NYPOST:

It starts with current Lightning forward Vladislav Namestnikov, a 25-year-old in the midst of a career season (20 goals, 44 points) and set to be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights; 19-year-old center Brett Howden, who was a first-round pick (No. 27 overall) in 2016 currently playing in the WHL; 20-year-old defenseman Libor Hajek, a second-round pick (No. 37 overall) in 2016 currently in the WHL; plus a first-round pick in 2018 and a conditional pick in 2019 — a second-rounder that would become a first if the Lightning win the Cup this year or next.

"IMPORTANT DETAIL"
That's not the case according to every source possible. That trade went down as follows:

McDonagh and J.T. Miller in exchange to Tampa for:

Namestnikov
Hajek
Howden
2018 1st Round Pick
2019 Conditional 2nd Round Pick, with the Condition ON THE 2019 2nd Rounder stating:

"The 2nd Round Pick Becomes A 1st If Tampa Wins The Stanley Cup In The 2017/18 OR 2018/19 Season."

I can't wait until that "KNOW IT ALL TANKER", (especially "Corsi" speaking wise), tries to maneuver his way out of his first incorrect comment for the day.
